Charles K. Chock Carruth

ANDREWS Funeral services for Charles K. Chock Carruth, 67, of Andrews will be 10 a.m. Saturday, August 2, 2003, at the First Baptist Church in Andrews with Larry Mobbs of Odessa officiating. Burial will be in the Andrews Old Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home of Andrews. He died Wednesday, July 30, 2003, at Midland Memorial Hospital. He was born October 24, 1935, in Lubbock, Texas, to Charlie Carruth and Ouida Doty Carruth. They moved to Andrews in 1948 from Denver City. He graduated from Andrews High School in 1955. He attended Hardin Simmons University and San Angelo College. He married Joyce Dru Gardner on July 7, 1956, in Pecos, Texas. She preceded him in death on September 10, 2000. He had owned and operated Chocks Oil Well Service since 1972. He was involved in ranching, Senior Team Roping Association, and American Quarter Horse Association. He supported the Andrews County 4-H Club and the Andrews Livestock Association. He had been a board of director for the First National Bank in Andrews. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and a member of the First Baptist Church in Andrews. He is survived by his son, Chris Carruth and wife, Becky, of Andrews; daughter, Paula Sommers and husband, Lynn, of Andrews; mother, Ouida Carruth of Andrews; sister, Kendall Robertson of Andrews; four grandchildren, Clif Ward, Casey, Courtney, and Carson Carruth, all of Andrews; and a special friend, Gayle Miller of Andrews. Memorials may be sent to the Andrews County 4-H Club, 215 NW 1st Street, Suite 2, Andrews, Texas 79714 or the American Diabetes Foundation.

Leslie Gross

ANDREWS — Leslie E. Gross, 75, of Andrews, co-owner of Superior Construction, died Saturday, August 2, 2003, at his residence.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Calvary Baptist Church with James Beard officiating. Burial will be at Andrews West Cemetary. Arrangements by McNett Funeral Home.

He was born in Holiday. He was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Bobbie Gross of Andrews; sons, Leslie E. Gross Jr. and Alton Gross, both of Andrews; daughter, Joyce Parnell of Andrews; step-children, Ronald Caraway of Puerto Rico and Connie Neatherlin of Milam; brothers, J.B. Gross, Wesley Gross and Lonnie Gross, all of Andrews; sister, Evelyn Bonham of Kermit; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
