MOLLIE WADE PRICE

1910-2006

Odessa Our Mother and Grandmother fought a hard battle, she won the victory, and has gone to her Heavenly home to be with her Heavenly Father, God, and her loved ones that have gone before, what a reunion that will be! She passed away February 16, 2006 at Odessa Hospice.

Mollie Wade Price was born March 16, 1910 to P.W. (Uncle Pal) and Lilla Martin in Whiteflat, Texas where she also graduated from high school. She accepted Christ as her Savior as a young girl. Mrs. Price was a member of Temple Baptist Church since 1967.

She married Bunyan Sterling Price November 3, 1934. He preceded her in death on December 23, 1971.

Mollie came to Andrews County in 1955 and moved to Andrews in 1957 where she started a career in childcare for the public. She later moved to Odessa in 1967 where she continued childcare until her late 80’s in her home at 1910 N. Hancock. She touched the lives of many children and babies. It was usual to see her in the chair with three or four on her lap rocking. Every morning when it came time for the little ones to come to Price’s house, they were ready because she had plenty of love for them all. Even working hard, she was ready to do for her children and grandchildren. She was always there for her family.

Preceding her in death are her husband, parents, five sisters, three brothers, a grandson, and a great grandson.

Mrs. Price is survived by her daughter Mildred and Odell Arnold, Stratford; daughter Wilma and Oliver Goldston, Lake Brownwood; son Melvin and Lou Ann Price, Odessa; and son Jerry and Susan Price, Denton. Grandchildren are Donny and Janice Arnold, Judy Gretz, Debbie and Gerald McDaniel, Ronnie and Dena Arnold, Terry and Mike Elder, Matt Goldston, Kelly Goldston, Rick and Connie Price, Mike and Tammy Price, Lori and Terry Wilkerson, Brian and Dana Price, and Kristie and Jave Tan. Twenty eight great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, and a host of friends.

ROSE MARY HOLLIS
March 25, 2006

Rose Mary (Haskins) Hollis completed her earthly journey on Saturday, March 25, 2006 when she stepped over the threshold of time, into the space of eternity and the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Rosie was born July 31, 1938 in the small farming community of Cunningham located just outside of Paris, Texas to Elmer K. And Florence Haskins, both deceased. At the age of six she accompanied her parents when they moved to Hollis, OK in 1944 and where she became acquainted with her husband Neil B. Hollis, of Midland, Texas. They were joined in holy matrimony on August 31, 1958 by their high school principle, Mr. E.R. Breechen, who was also an ordained minister. The marriage was never blessed with children. Rosie was loved and respected by all who came to know her. She had that personality to which one could freely confide their inner most feelings. Her practical and down-to-earth approach kept her in good stead throughout her earthly life. At the age of 22 Rosie was diagnosed with an incurable medical condition, that most who came to know her never knew about. At the age of 47 Rosie was diagnosed with cancer that she successfully conquered, through her faith in God. Never once in her 67 years of earthly life did she ever complain of these conditions, striving instead to overcome these human ailments always looking to the positive and never the negative. She was devoted to her parents, seeing to their needs in their later years, sacrificing her own situation to assure their comfort and care. Without complaint she accompanied her husband to multiple states and several overseas countries as he completed a 23-year career in the U.S. Army. In fact she considered her efforts as typically her role as a wife and patriot. One of her most cherished earthly mementos was the certificate of Appreciation she received from the Department of the Army upon the retirement of her husband from active military service. Rosie had a brief but successful professional career, advancing from Administrative Assistant to Ccmptroller in ten years for Maritime Brokers, a shipping brokerage firm located in the suburbs of Chicago. One of her final comments before before becoming unable to speak is most meaningful as an insight to Rosie when she said, “People are beautiful, you can learn so much from knowing them.”
Graveside services were conducted by Flora Maxine Kramer, who Rosie considered her best friend, at Andrews West Cemetery on Sunday, March 26, 2006 where she was laid to rest beside her father and mother. Her desires for an epitaph were simple but meaningful – Rose Mary (Haskins) Hollis, who lived, who loved, with all her heart.
