Joyce Ann Hammond, 56, of Andrews passed away Sunday January 29, 2006 at her home in Andrews.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday February 1, 2006 at Andrews North Cemetery. Rev. Alvin Petty, Pastor, of Wesley Methodist Church in Andrews will officiate. Burial will be in Andrews North Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.
Joyce was born October 12, 1949 in McCrory, Arkansas. She married Don Hammond November 10, 1971 in Odessa, and they lived in Kermit. Joyce and Don moved to Andrews for the first time in 1974. In 1981 they moved back to Andrews to stay from Cisco, Texas. Joyce and Don Owned and Operated the Andrews Bowl-A-Rama, bowling alley for many years. Joyce loved spending time with her family, and granddaughter.
She is survived by: Her Husband - Don Hammond of Andrews Three Sons - Johnny Woodson of Arkansas, Michael McCabe of Mississippi, and James Hammond of Odessa, Texas; One Brother - Bobby Watkins of College Station, Texas; and Two Sisters- Linda Marsh of College Station and Wanda Valasquez of California. and Seven Grandchildren.

Humanity is greatly diminshed by the passing of Joyce k. Hammond, 58, of Andrews. Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Monday, April 24, 2006 in the Andrews West Cemetery with Rev. David King of Andrews officiating. Visitation will be on Monday, April 24, 2006 from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM at McNett Funeral Home in Andrews.
Joyce lost a valiant battle with cancer on Saturday, April 22, 2006 at Permian Regional Medical Center in Andrews.
Joyce was born April 1, 1948 in Hobbs, New Mexico and attended high school in Midland. She married Jerry Don Hammond on June 23, 1981 in Andrews and they owned and operated J & J Carpet Cleaning in Andrews for 15 years. Joyce was an active member of Alcoholic's Anonymous, serving as an influential example in helping others to recover from the disease of alcoholism. She touched the lives of so many who will be forever grateful to her. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Midland. She was preceded in death by her father: Billy Kennedy in 1984; mother: Bobbie Sharp in 2005; grandson: Justin Cordova in 1993; and by many of her friends.
She is survived by her husband: Jerry Hammond of Andrews; 2 daughters: Sherri Cordova of Andrews and Lynda Ussery of Odessa; stepfather: Paul Sharp of Andrews; 1 brother: Billy Bob Kennedy of La Porte, Texas; 2 sisters: Jan Nelson and Naomi Orman of Midland; 3 stepsisters: Claudia Duncan of Dallas, Teresa Froelich of Andrews, and Yalanda Joyce Sims of Lake Elsinore, California; 3 grandchildren: Christian Ussery of Odessa, Courtney Cordova of Andrews, and Megan McElroy of Snyder. We will miss you, Joyce.

She was born May 8, 1924 in Thurber, Texas to Charles Franklin Mosley and Lura Cantwell Mosley. She married Paul Keith "Cotton" Harris on August 20, 1948 in Hobbs, New Mexico. She moved to Seminole in 1951 and then to Andrews in 1972. She loved to shop, help with the elections in Andrews, and was involved in the WWII 381st Bombers Unit Reunion. She was a homemaker and a member of the Means Memorial United Methodist Church in Andrews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years on May 8, 1992; her parents; 1 sister; and 1 brother.
She is survived by her 1 son: Randall K. Harris and wife, Sue, of Andrews; 1 sister: Carol Lynn Watkins of Jal, New Mexico; 1 brother: Charles Ray Mosley of Kermit; and 2 grandchildren: Shawn Micheal Harris of Odessa and Anthony Dobs Harris, GSM3, US Navy, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

She was born June 23, 1907 in Nashoba, Oklahoma to Thurston McKinney and Mineola Fincher McKinney. She moved to Andrews in 1923 from Westbrook and attended Andrews Schools. She married William Alexander "Bill" Harris on December 24, 1924 in Andrews. She was a homemaker and a charter member of First Baptist Church in Andrews. She was preceded in death by her husband on December 1, 1988; her daughter: Margaret Stroud in 1998; her parents; 3 sisters; and 2 brothers.
She is survived by her 8 daughters: LaRue Johnson of Comanche, Oklahoma, Viola Page, Martha Page, and Rosie Teakell of Andrews, Bernice Vandever of Bakersfield, California, Doris Chambers of Hawkins, Geneva Kutin of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Nona Goolsby of Houston; 1 son: J.W. Harris of Andrews; 1 sister: Lillie Harris of Andrews; 2 brothers: Chuck and Warner McKinney of Andrews; 19 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; and 45 great great grandchildren.

He passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2006 at Permian Residential Care Center in Andrews.
He was born on December 1, 1917 in Van Zandt County, Texas to Jess Levi Hathcock and Lillie Mae Chamblee. He grew up in Van Zandt County and married Clois Irene Hedden on August 20, 1938 in Van Zandt County. He moved to Andrews in 1943. He had worked for Carl S. Ham and Superior Welding in Andrews. He retired from the County of Andrews after serving 16 years as a county commissioner. He was a past member of the Andrews Downtown Lions Club, Andrews Senior Center, and was well known in the community as the man in the little red truck that fed bread to the ducks at the city lake. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife on March 6, 1990; parents; 3 brothers; son: William James Hathcock in 1978; and grandson: Dustin Max Hathcock in 1977.
He is survived by his 1 son: Max Hathcock and wife Sherry of Andrews; 1 daughter: Nelda Bills and husband Jimmy of Humble; 2 sisters: Jewel Woolverton of Mabank and Crystal Weeks of Azle; 7 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

Rayfield Hearne, Sr., 80, of Andrews Passed away Monday, December 18, 2006 at his home in Andrews.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at Calvary Baptist Church in Andrews. His son, Nathaniel Hearne will officiate along with Rev. Willie Ray Fields and Rev. Julius Brooks. Burial will be in Andrews North Cemetery.
He was born on July 4, 1926 in McKelvey, Arkansas. He moved to Andrews in 1958 from McCamey, Texas. He retired from Dowell as a serviceman and then worked as tool dresser for Cobra Packers. He loved to fish, raise cattle and pigs on his land, and enjoyed gardining.
He is survived by: 3 sons - Ray Hearne, Jr. of Austin; Nathaniel Hearne of Arlington; Kenneth Hearne of Andrews; 5 daughters - Evelyn Fields of Bakersfield, California; Mittie Smith of Andrews; Gloria Hearne of Odessa; Jackuelin Hearne of Austin; and Deborah Green of Round Rock; 1 brother - I.J. Hearne of Atlanta, Texas; 2 sisters - R.T. White of Midland and Gertude White of Atlanta, Texas; 21 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.

Kenneth Heflin, 67, of Chaparral, New Mexico passed away Sunday December 11, 2005 at his daughters home in Andrews.
A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday at his Parents Home in Abilene. Burial will follow in the Heflin Family Cemetery in May, Texas .
Kenneth was born October 2, 1938 at De Leon, Texas. He was a Rail Road Diesel Electrician, he retired with Southern Pacific Rail Road.
He loved to fish and hunt and go camping. He also really enjoyed watching TV and among his favorite shows was Walker - Texas Ranger.
He is Survived by: Sons - Kelly Heflin of Tucson, Arizona; Kenny Heflin of Roby, Texas; Daril Anthes of Virginia and Darin Anthes of El Paso, Texas; Daughters - Shari Smith of Andrews and Shannon Heflin of Brownwood, Texas; His Parents - Paul and Ola Heflin of Abilene; One Brother - Ron Heflin of Azle, Texas and one Sister - Paula Sullivan of Abilene, Texas; and 8 Grandchildren.

Sydnie W. 'Syd' Helton, 80, of Andrews passed away Tuesday january 16, 2007 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Monday January 22, 2007 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews. Rev. Alvin Petty, pastor of Wesley United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Andrews Old Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.
Syd was born October 29, 1926 in Muldoon, Texas He married Billie Ruth Dupree November 18, 1946 in San Angelo, Texas. Syd served in the United States Marine Corps durring the Korean Conflict.
He and Billie moved to Andrews in 1954. He was a heavy equipment operator for many years and retired with Grimmitt Brothers Construction in Andrews.
Syd loved to talk to poeple and share stories with them.
He is survived by: His Wife - Billie Helton of Andrews; One Daughter - Sandra Kay Gibson and her husband Lynn of La Grange, Texas; 2 Grandchildren Jason Gibson and Sydna Kobersky both of La Grange, Three Great-Grandchildren - William Gibson, Braden and Brianna Kobersky all of La Grange; One brother in law and sister in law - Curtis and Joyce Dupree of Arizona; And Special friends - Jim and Anita Meador of Odessa.

Edward Leon Henn, 82, of Andrews passed away Sunday, April 23, 2006 at his daughter's home in Andrews.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 26, 2006 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel with John Bell of Kermit, Gregory Young of Andrews, and Bruce Williams of Midland officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews North Cemetery. Family will recieve friends at McNett Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 from 7-8 PM.
Edward was born October 10, 1923 in Orlando, Oklahoma. He served in the US Navy. He was a Drilling Superintendent for Elenburg Exploration for over 15 years and several other companies over the years. He married Billie Ruth Carnes November 14, 1966 in Roswell, NM. They moved to in and out of Andrews several times, but moved back to stay in 1983 from Montana. He was a member and former Branch President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Andrews. He loved his Church and his wife very much. Mr. Henn also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and loved to joke and tease people. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Billie in 2005 and one sister, Elora Henn.
He is survived by: 2 Sons - Mike Henn of Rapid City, South Dakota and Craig Batson of Fort Worth; 6 Daughters - Marlene Jones of Norfolk, Virginia; Jana Beth Hawkins of North Carolina; LaVada Brinton of Salt Lake City, Utah; Daisy Barton of Andrews; Patsy Ford of Merkel; and Geneva Napper of Andrews; 2 Sisters - Martha Burk of Yukon, Oklahoma and Lorraine Vitt of Bedford; 20 Grandchildren and 26 Great-Grandchildren.

Angelita was born May 13, 1921 in Pallomas, Mexico. She married Sabino Hernandez on December 19, 1945 in Mexico. He preceded her in death in 2001. She was a homemaker and mother. She loved to cook and sew. She also loved to read the Bible. She was a member of Filadelfia Assembly of God Church in Andrews.
She is survived by: 2 Sons - Efren Hernandez of Andrews and Sergio Hernandez of Ft. Davis, Texas; 4 Daughters - Anita Guzman of Artesia, NM; Blanca Corrales of Redford, Texas; Beatrice Hernandez of Dallas, Texas and Maribel Carrasco of Presidio, Texas; 1 Brother - Pedro Valenzuela of Presidio, 4 Sisters - Juanita Carrasco of Houston; Consuela Hernandez of Midland; Rosa Hernandez of Odessa and Maria Gomez of Dexter, NM; 29 Grandchildren and 36 Great-Grandchildren.

Noelia was born November 20, 1963 in Brownfield, Texas. Moved to Andrews in 1975. She married Javier Hernandez, April 30, 1980 in Brownfield. She was a member of the Andrews Apostolic Worship Center. Mrs. Hernandez loved to Spend time with her grandchildren and family, and she very much enjoyed her job as a homemaker, Mother and Grandmother.

ROSE MARY HOLLIS
March 25, 2006

Rose Mary (Haskins) Hollis completed her earthly journey on Saturday, March 25, 2006 when she stepped over the threshold of time, into the space of eternity and the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Rosie was born July 31, 1938 in the small farming community of Cunningham located just outside of Paris, Texas to Elmer K. And Florence Haskins, both deceased. At the age of six she accompanied her parents when they moved to Hollis, OK in 1944 and where she became acquainted with her husband Neil B. Hollis, of Midland, Texas. They were joined in holy matrimony on August 31, 1958 by their high school principle, Mr. E.R. Breechen, who was also an ordained minister. The marriage was never blessed with children. Rosie was loved and respected by all who came to know her. She had that personality to which one could freely confide their inner most feelings. Her practical and down-to-earth approach kept her in good stead throughout her earthly life. At the age of 22 Rosie was diagnosed with an incurable medical condition, that most who came to know her never knew about. At the age of 47 Rosie was diagnosed with cancer that she successfully conquered, through her faith in God. Never once in her 67 years of earthly life did she ever complain of these conditions, striving instead to overcome these human ailments always looking to the positive and never the negative. She was devoted to her parents, seeing to their needs in their later years, sacrificing her own situation to assure their comfort and care. Without complaint she accompanied her husband to multiple states and several overseas countries as he completed a 23-year career in the U.S. Army. In fact she considered her efforts as typically her role as a wife and patriot. One of her most cherished earthly mementos was the certificate of Appreciation she received from the Department of the Army upon the retirement of her husband from active military service. Rosie had a brief but successful professional career, advancing from Administrative Assistant to Ccmptroller in ten years for Maritime Brokers, a shipping brokerage firm located in the suburbs of Chicago. One of her final comments before before becoming unable to speak is most meaningful as an insight to Rosie when she said, “People are beautiful, you can learn so much from knowing them.”
Graveside services were conducted by Flora Maxine Kramer, who Rosie considered her best friend, at Andrews West Cemetery on Sunday, March 26, 2006 where she was laid to rest beside her father and mother. Her desires for an epitaph were simple but meaningful – Rose Mary (Haskins) Hollis, who lived, who loved, with all her heart.

Veldon Hudgens, 87, of Andrews passed away friday June 30, 2006 at Permian Residential Care Center in Andrews.
Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Monday July 3, 2006 at Andrews Old Cemetery, Under the Direction of McNett Funeral Home. Rev. Harvey Enriquez, Pastor of Northcrest Baptist Church will officiate.
Veldon was born February 23, 1919 in New Boston, Texas. She married Truman "T.N." Hudgens in 1934 in Dekalb, Texas. They moved to Andrews in 1941 from Hobbs, NM. She was a Homemaker and Mother and she loved her cats. She was preceded in death by her Husband T.N. Hudgens in 1973 and a daughter, Thresa Bell.
She is survived by: Two Sons - Eddie Wayne Hudgens of Dumas, Texas Butch Hudgens of Las Vegas, NV; One Daughter - Glenda Hale of Plano, Texas and Eleven Grandchildren and Many Great Grandchildren and several Great-Great-Grandchildren.

Services for Franklin D. "Cotton" Hughey, 77 of Andrews, will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, January 17, 2007 at McKinney Acres Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. James Beard and Rev. Jim Landry. Burial will follow in the Andrews Old Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.
Cotton passed away in Odessa, Saturday, January 13, 2007. He was born on November 22, 1929 at Roby, Texas. He married Lona Forgus at Portales, New Mexico. He moved to Andrews in 1965 from Georgetown, Texas. He was a truck driver for years and retired as a bailiff for Andrews County. He was a member of McKinney Acres Baptist Church.
Survivors include; wife, Lona, Andrews; sons, Jim Murrell, Houston, John Murrell, Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Frank Hughey, Brownwwood, Texas; daughter, Mary Canning, Boston, Massachusetts; sister Allene Whitaker, Georgetown, Texas; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. A son Pete C. Hughey preceded Cotton in death in 1980.

Norma passed away Thursday, October 5, 2006 at her residence in Andrews. She was born on March 26, 1944 in Marion County, Alabama. She married Eugene Hyde on July 5, 1969 at Guin, Alabama. Norma worked for Kirby West and several other places in Andrews before retirement. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Eugene, Andrews; daughters Linda Ruiz and Alice Hernandez both of Andrews, Lora Bray of Sweetwater; son Bobby Hyde, Bolder, Colorado; brothers, James Howard Westbrook, Andrews and Eugene "Winky" Westbrook, Windfield, Alabama; sisters Betty Barnett, Windfield, Alabama, Dorothy Arnett and Tommie Lou Markum both of Brilliant, Alabama, six grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
