Kyees Funeral is set
for today
Funeral services for
Sam Kyees, 67, of Odessa are planned for today, Thursday, at
Hubbard Kelly Chapel with the Rev. Leonad Gartley, officiating.
Burial will be in
Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Kyees was born
Nov. 18, 1919 in Valliant, Oklahoma. he married Betty Jo Hopper
Jan 15, 1956 in Childress, Texas.
He lived in Odessa
since 1946. He retired in 1982 from Amoco after 34 years. he
wrked as an operator for Amoco and worked in Andrews County.
He was a member of
Sherwood Baptist Church. He served in the Army Air Corps in
World War II and was a member of the Civil Air Patrol.
Survivors include his
wife; two daughters, Bertha Nell Holzhauer and Brenda Joyce
Major, both of Odessa; two brothers, David Kyees of Colton,
Oregon and Louis Kyees of Odessa; one sister, Bessie May
Christrian of Dry Creek, West Virginia; and four grandchildren.

DR. JOHN R. KANTOR
December 7, 2005
Funeral services for John Kantor, M.D. , 81, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, will
be 10:00 AM Tuesday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Andrews. Rev.
James Bridges of St. Stevens Catholic Church in Midland will officiate. Burial
will be in Andrews North Cemetery.
A Rosary will be held at 7:00 PM Monday at McNett Funeral Home Chapel. with Rev.
Bernard Gully of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Andrews will conduct the
Rosary.
He died December 7, 2005 from complications of diabetes in an Albuquerque, New
Mexico hospital.
Dr. Kantor was born November 11, 1924 in Sergeant, Nebraska to Dominik B. and
Ruth Kantor. The family relocated to Fairbury, Nebraska when he was 12 years old
and he graduated from Fairbury High School in 1943.
He was drafted into the United States Army and served as a medic in the 353rd
infantry regiment, 89th Infantry Division ("Rolling W") from June, 1943 until
his discharge in April, 1946. Upon his return he attended Fairbury Junior
College and the University of Nebraska, graduating from the University of
Nebraska Medical School in 1953. He married Harriet Jane Kammerlohr December 20,
1950 in Omaha, Nebraska. She preceded him in death in July, 1999. Dr. Kantor
practiced family medicine, including general surgery and obstetrics, which was
his favorite part of being a doctor. He delivered over 3,000 babies, about 2,000
in Andrews. His first delivery was a set of twins born in 1953 at Providence
Hospital in Waco. He was licensed in Nebraska, Texas, Colorado and South Dakota.
Following the death of his wife, he moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico with his
son where he enjoyed traveling and photography. He was a member of Saint Joseph
on the Rio Grande Catholic Church and a lector and member of the Knights of
Columbus, Brother Mathias Council 10560.
Survivors include three sons, John Kantor, Jr. of Canyon, Joe Kantor of
Albuquerque and Ted Kantor of Mexia; one daughter, Lori of Arlington; six
grandchildren;one brother, Joseph R. Kantor of Corvalis, Oregon; one sister,
Doris B. Kantor, of Chicago, Illinois; five nephews; two nieces; and many
friends.
ALAWAYNE KEEN
February 4, 2006
Services for Alawayne Keen, 84 of Andrews, will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, February
7, 2006 in Means Memorial United Methodist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Rick
Doyle, Pastor, and Rev. Bryan Johnson, Chaplain with Home Hospice. Burial will
follow in the Andrews North Cemetery.
The Family will receive friends from 7-8 PM Monday at McNett Funeral Home.
Alawayne died Saturday, February 4, 2006 in Andrews after a lengthy illness.
Alawayne was born to John T. Atchison and Mabel Sunshine Haynie Atchison on July
30, 1921 at Stanton, Texas. She graduated for Pecos High School where she was
active in the track program earning many awards. She attended Texas Tech where
she met Jack Clay Keen, they were married on June 18, 1942 in Lubbock, Texas.
She was active in Cub Scouts as a Den Mother, she was also a Girl Scout leader.
Alawayne was a member of the Means Memorial United Methodist Church and had been
a Sunday school teacher and had been active with the United Methodist Womens.
She had been a member of the Eastern Star, Permian Regional Medical Center
auxiliary also known as the Pink Ladies. She loved to play golf and loved her
many friends and her family. Her husband Jack preceded her in death on June 24,
1997, her parents and a brother Thomas Carl Atchison also preceded her in death.
Survivors include, daughters, Loyce Roberts, Andrews, Mary Beth Baxter, Cliff,
New Mexico, Sunny Lynn Brewster, Silver City, New Mexico, sons, John Clay Keen
and Jack Wayne Keen both of Silver City, New Mexico, eleven grandchildren and 8
great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Home Hospice, 803 North Main, Andrews, Texas 79714.

services for Cordie G. Keith, 90, of Midland will be 2:00 PM Saturday, September
10, 2005 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews with John Snider of Greenwood
Church of Christ officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews Old Cemetery.
She passed
away on Thursday, September 8, 2005 at her residence in Midland.
She was born
February 7, 1915 in Granbury, Texas to Allison W. McPherson and Dora June Vesta
McPherson. She had worked as a secretary for the State of California in Long
Beach for 30 years. She moved to Andrews in 1970, and worked for the Andrews
Senior Center for 11 years. She married William Benjamin Keith on September 16,
1989 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She moved to Odessa in 1999. She was a member of the
Andrews Eastern Star and the Andrews Church of Christ.
She was
preceded in death by her parents; 4 brothers; 1 sister; and 1 stepson.
She is
survived by; Husband: Ben Keith of Midland, her 2 stepdaughters: Ora Pearl Scott
of Andrews and Jeannie Rogers of Wichita Falls; 2 stepsons: Alton Keith of
Albuquerque, New Mexico and Roland Keith of Virginia Beach, Virginia; 2
brothers: Fred McPherson of Breckenridge, Texas and Tommy McPherson of State of
Washington, 7 step grandchildren; and 15 step great grandchildren.

GERTRUDE CREASON KINNEY

Memorial services for Gertrude Creason Kinney, 94, of Andrews will be 2:00 PM
Friday, January 20, 2006 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews with Raul
Puente, Chaplain for Star Hospice, and Mrs. Kinney's Grandson, Robert Moore,
officiating. Cremation is under the direction of McNett Funeral Home in Andrews.
Gertrude passed away on Monday, January 16, 2006 at her residence.
She was born on August 13, 1911 in Sibley, Missouri to Lige Creason and Minnie
P. Benson Creason. She married David A. Kinney, Jr. on September 29, 1928 in
Cleveland, Oklahoma. They moved to Andrews in 1950, where they started Kinney
and Kinney in 1954. Kinney and Kinney later became Kinney, Inc. in 1956 which
she owned until 1981. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband on February 8, 1962 and her son: David
A. Kinney III in 1952.
She is survived by her daughter: Patricia K. Moore of Andrews; 4 grandchildren -
Robert Moore and wife Cynthia; Kim and Kelly Kinney; Karen Foltz and husband
Ronnie; David Kinney and Wife Jennifer. 11 great grandchildren; and 9 great
great grandchildren.
