JERRY W. McCOWN
November 30, 2006

Funeral services for Jerry W. McCown, 62, of Lake O.H. Ivie will be 2:00 PM Monday, December 4, 2006 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews with Rev. Joe Chamness, Pastor of First United Methodist Church in Ballinger, officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews West Cemetery.
Family will receive friends on Sunday, December 3, 2006 at the funeral home from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM.
He passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2006 at his residence in Lake O.H. Ivie.
He was born December 9, 1943 in Winters to Weldon Bradley McCown, Sr. and Reba Silas Richards McCown. He attended Andrews schools and served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam. He married Linda Ann Morrison on December 2, 1966 in Odessa. He moved to Amarillo in 1975. He worked for Teamsters Local 577 in Amarillo for 32 years, which he served as president and business manager for 20 years. He also served as an international representative for Teamsters. He moved to Lake O.H. Ivie in 1998. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ballinger. He was a lifetime member of the VFW; Master Mason and member of H.A. McFarland Masonic Lodge in Odessa; and had served as trustee of Southern States Retirement Board. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother: Weldon "Gus" McCown.
He is survived by his wife: Linda McCown of Lake O.H. Ivie; 2 sons: Dirk McCown of San Antonio and Jason McCown and wife Traci of Amarillo; 1 stepson: Bill Morrison and wife Tina of Odessa; 2 sisters: Cozette Rutherford of Aspermont and Sue Austin of Roby; 4 grandchildren: Jayden and Jaci McCown of Amarillo and Gavin and Garrett Morrison of Odessa; numerous nephews and nieces; and his girls.
Memorials may be sent to the First United Methodist Church in Ballinger or Hospice of San Angelo.

 

RAY RICHARD 'RED' McCULLOUGH
October 29, 2006

Funeral services for Ray Richard "Red" McCullough, 52, of Andrews will be 2:00 PM Thursday, November 2, 2006 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews with Cliff Lightfoot of Andrews and Rev. Kerry Tilley, Pastor of First Assembly of God Church in Andrews, officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews North Cemetery.
He passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2006 at Permian Regional Medical Center in Andrews.
He was born December 9, 1953 in Dallas to James Martin McCullough and Laverne White McCullough. He has lived in Andrews for 45 years and has worked as a pumper for Bald Eagle in Andrews for 14 years. He married Carolyn Jo Martin on June 15, 1979 in Andrews. He was attending the First Assembly of God Church in Andrews. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister.

He is survived by his wife: Carolyn McCullough of Andrews; 1 son: Jerry McCullough of Odessa; 1 daughter: Carrie Lavender of Andrews; 2 brothers: Randy McCullough of Andrews and Glen McCullough of Eunice, New Mexico; 2 sisters: Barbara McCullough and Vickie Wilson of Andrews; 7 grandchildren; mother in law: Betty Combs of Alba; and father in law: Walter D. Martin of Andrews.

 

JERRY PIPER McDANIEL
January 28, 2007

Jerry Piper-McDaniel, 78, of Andrews passed away Sunday, January 28, 2007 at her home.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday January 31, 2007 at First Baptist Church in Andrews. Dr. Jeff Donnell will officiate. Burial will be in Andrews West Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.
Jerry was born August 11, 1928 in Eastland, Texas. She married Fred Piper September 12, 1948 in Eastland. They moved to Andrews in 1953 From Kaufman County, Texas.
Mr. Piper preceded her in death in 1989.
Jerry married George McDaniel November 21, 1992 in Andrews.

Jerry Graduated from the University of North Texas in 1949 and taught School for over 47 years. She loved her school kids even after retiring she served as a Substitute teacher for close to 10 years.
She loved music and playing games with her family, working crossword puzzles and Gig Saw puzzles. She also enjoyed Needle Point and Quilting. She was a past member of the American Association of University Women.
She was Preceded in death by - her parents, Paul and Verna McFarland, three brothers - Roland Jone and William McFarland, and one sister - Peggy Morse.
She is Survived by: Her Husband - George McDaniel; Four Daughters - Paula Thurmond of College Station, Texas; Pam Fisher of Andrews; Peggy Stavinoha of Andrews; and Pat Locke of Tomball, Texas; One Brother - Robert McFarland of Alpine, Texas, Four Step-Sons - Mike McDaniel of Lewisville, Texas; Chuck McDaniel of Dallas; Dick McDaniel of Arlington; John McDaniel of Plano, Texas; 24 Grandchildren and 2 Great - Grandchildren.
The family requests that memorial gifts be made to the Andrews Education Foundation.

 

WILLIE MAE McGARY
December 8, 2006

Graveside services for Willie Mae McGary, 91, of Chandler, Arizona will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 19, 2006 in the Andrews Old Cemetery with Rev. James Griffin of First Baptist Church in Andrews officiating. She passed away on Friday, December 8, 2006 at her daughter's residence in Chandler.
She was born March 9, 1915 in Brownwood to Sam Houston Robinson and Rosa Lee Gill Robinson. She married Alvie Ray "Tom" McGary on August 7, 1932 in Brownwood. They moved to Andrews in 1945 and she was a homemaker. During this time, her life was centered around her family, friends and her church, First Baptist Church of Andrews. Her husband preceded her in death on August 31, 1990. She and her friend, Willie Mae Reynolds, enjoyed many hours visiting the nursing home, hospital and shut-ins, as the "Sunshine Girls" of their Sunday School Class. She moved to Amarillo in 2001 and then Chandler in 2004 to spend her remaining years with her daughters. She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 sisters; and 3 brothers.
She is survived by 2 daughters: Wilma Perkins and husband Johnie of Amarillo and Joyce Fitzgibbons and husband Reid of Chandler, Arizona; 4 grandchildren: Rod Parker, Terri Duffy, Brent Summitt, and Joni Summitt; and 2 great grandchildren: Amanda Hernandez and Dylan Zolpe; 11 nieces and nephews; numerous great nieces and nephews who loved her and felt part of her family; and special friends in Arizona, Jennifer, Bob and Kamron Bamman.

PEARLIE McGILL
January 20, 2006

Services for Pearlie McGill, 94 of Andrews, will be 2:00 PM Monday, January 23, 2006 at Means Memorial United Methodist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Rick Doyle, pastor of Means Memorial United Methodist Church and Rev. Earl Blair, Canyon, Texas. Burial will follow in the Andrews West Cemetery.
Pearlie died Friday, January 20, 2006 at Permian Regional Medical Center in Andrews. She was born on November 24, 1911 in Erath County, Texas. She graduated from Lamesa High School in 1931. She received her teaching certificate from McMurry in 1949, she graduated from North Texas in 1954. She taught school in Dawson County and in Andrews for a total of 23 years.
Pearlie married Vernon Wilson Bryant, Sr. in Lamesa in May 1938. Vernon preceded her in death on April 25, 1943. She married Guy McGill in Andrews in 1963. Pearlie was a member of the Means Memorial United Methodist Church.
Survivors include; sons John Bryant, San Francisco, California, Vernon Wilson Bryant, Jr. and wife Nancy of Ft. Worth, Texas, brother, John Shillingburg and wife Nancy, Alexandria, Virginia, sister, Oleta Adkins, Midland, Texas, grandchildren, Vernon Wilson Bryant, III and wife Chelsey, Austin, Texas, Theron L. Bryant, and wife Leslie, Ft. Worth, Texas, great grandchildren, Vernon Wilson Bryant IV, Austin, Texas, Chandler Annette Bryant , Austin, Texas, Bridget Faith Bryant, Austin, Texas and Ava Bremond Bryant, Ft. Worth, Texas. Preceding Pearlie in death was brothers Doyle Shillingburg on April 18, 1986, Laurence Shillingburg on October 24, 1997, sisters Marie Buchanan on March 5, 1981 and Olena Bingham on November 19, 1981.

MATTIE LEE McGUIRE
October 18, 2006

Funeral services for Mattie Lee McGuire, 94, of Andrews will be 1:00 PM Saturday, October 21, 2006 at the Throckmorton Cemetery in Throckmorton, Texas with Rev. James Beard, Pastor of McKinney Acres Baptist Church, officiating.
She passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2006 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.
She was born on April 27, 1912 in Throckmorton to Rivers Kelley and Margaret Rogers Kelley. She married William Ramsey "Mack" McGuire on July 30, 1938 in Throckmorton. They moved to Andrews in 1968 from Snyder. They had owned and operated McGuire Boot and Saddle Shop in Andrews. He preceded her in death on September 20, 1976. She had worked as a cook for B&J Restaurant in Andrews and as a dietician for the Andrews Senior Citizen Center. She was a member of the Andrews Senior Citizen Center and McKinney Acres Baptist Church in Andrews. She was preceded in death by her son: Robert McGuire in 1948; her parents; 3 sisters; and 1 brother.
She is survived by her 1 daughter: Molly McCray of Denver City; 1 son: Walt McGuire of Odessa; 1 brother: Clarence Kelley of Springer, New Mexico; 4 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren.

HELEN LYNETT McMAHAN
August 30, 2006

Funeral services for Helen Lynette McMahan, 90, of Andrews will be 2:00 PM Saturday, September 2, 2006 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel with Speaker Dr. Gregory Young of Andrews and Branch Stake President Steven Vore of Odessa officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews Old Cemetery.
Helen passed away at her residence in Andrews on Wednesday, August 30, 2006.
She was born on January 29, 1916 in Albany, Texas. She was a music teacher in Andrews for many years, and had taught in Stanton and Kasse, Texas. Helen was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Andrews. Helen married W.G. "Bill" McMahan on December 27, 1974 in Denison, Texas.
She is survived by her husband: Bill McMahan of Andrews; Stepson: Mark McMahan of Goodyear, Arizona; Stepdaughter: Sue McMahan of Grand Prairie; Brothers: Wade Burleson of Houston and J.O. Burleson of Jasper; Sister: Sethene Starks of Ft. Worth; and 2 grandchildren.

 

MARY McNETT
January 31, 2007

Funeral services for Mary McNett, 90, of Andrews will be 2:00 PM Monday, February 5, 2007 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews with Rev. Don Laird, Pastor of First Assembly of God Church in Caldwell, Texas, Dr. Jeff Donnell, Pastor of First Baptist Church in Andrews, and Rev. Bryan Johnson, Home Hospice Chaplain in Andrews, officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews Old Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Buffard Wagner, Norman Sherrill, Darrel Adkins, Lawrence Freeze, Andy Jenkins, and Gilbert Land.
She passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at Permian Residential Care Center in Andrews.
She was born on June 21, 1916 in Woodward County, Oklahoma to Charles Edward Kelly and Nellie Sophie Custer Kelly. She was raised in Granola, Oklahoma and married Marvin Henry McNett on on September 18, 1934 in Newkirk, Oklahoma. They had lived in Ponca City, Oklahoma, Borger, Odessa, Hobbs, NM and moved to Andrews in 1946. She was a homemaker and had been very involved in her earlier years at the First Assembly of God Church in Andrews. She was currently a member of Maranatha Assembly of God Church in Andrews. She was preceded in death by her husband on November 1, 2004; her parents; 2 sisters: Alpha Hoggat and Nina Bailey; 3 brothers: Elmer, Elvin, and Alfred Kelly.
She is survived by her 3 sons: Eddie McNett and wife Betty of Andrews, Dean McNett and wife Darla of Andrews, Ken McNett and wife Debbie of Tulsa, Oklahoma; 2 brothers: Edward Kelly and wife Iva of Winters, California and Arthur Kelly of Chelsea, Oklahoma; 1 brother in law: Richard McNett and wife Imogene of Davis, Oklahoma; 3 sister in laws: Edna Grace of Blackwell, Oklahoma, Edna Kelly of Carrington, North Dakota, and Ethel Kelly of Blackwell, Oklahoma; 3 grandchildren: Ora Lee Schiele and husband Wayne of Watertown, New York, Brian McNett and wife Veronica of Andrews, and Becky Johnson and husband Rex of Andrews; 4 step grandchildren: Bobby Mishler and wife Kristen of College Station, Robert LaRue and wife Kristie of Andrews, Don Paul LaRue of Andrews, and Denise LaRue Wilson of California; 6 great grandchildren; and 8 step great grandchildren.
