He passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2006 at University Medical Center in Lubbock.
He was born on July 30, 1951 in Wichita, Kansas to George Clarence Rollins and Betty Jo Rollins. He graduated from Haysville High School in Kansas in 1969. He served in the US Army Rangers during the Vietnam War and was an expert marksman. He married Tonya Marie Neal on November 1, 1999 in Andrews. He had attended technical schools, where he learned electrical, refrigeration, and general maintenance. He was plant coordinator at Permian Regional Medical Center and Permian Residential Care Center and has worked there for 19 years. He was a member of the Andrews Bass Club and was Presbyterian. He was preceded in death by his father in 2003; and sister: Ruth Ann Trimpe in 2005.
He is survived by his wife: Tonya Rollins of Andrews; mother: Betty Jo Rollins of Haysville, Kansas; 2 daughters: Shannon Hall and husband Chris of Midland and Randi Jo Rollins of Midland; 2 stepdaughters: Jairen and Jezzy Butler of Andrews; 1 stepson: Ryan Butler of Midland; 2 brothers: Robert "Bob" Rollins of Wichita, Kansas and Paul Rollins of Mobile, Alabama; 2 sisters: Sharron McPhail of Wellington, Kansas and Norma Sturgon of Wichita, Kansas; and 8 grandchildren.

Roy T. Bates, 91, of Andrews passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2006 at his residence in Andrews. Cremation was under the direction of McNett Funeral Home in Andrews.
Burial of cremains will be at a later date.
He was born August 2, 1915 in Leslie, Missouri to Charles Harrison Bates and Sarah Ellen Bandy Bates. He was educated in Wyoming. He married Ione Marie Schandorff, and she preceded him. He worked as an engineer and pumper for Amoco Oil Company for 35 years. He moved to Great Falls, Montana in 1975 from Casper, Wyoming and married Cecilia Bold Kincaid. He assisted and managed rental properties. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and taking rides in the country. He moved to Andrews in 2005 due to health reasons and lived with his daughter. He was preceded in death by his parents; son: Roy C. Bates; and numerous brothers and sisters. He was Episcopalian.
He is survived by his wife: Cecila Kincaid Bates of Great Falls, Montana; 1 daughter: Mary Nelson and husband Clint of Andrews; 1 brother: Gene Bates of Casper, Wyoming; 1 sister: Ruth Hendricks of Big Piney, Wyoming; 2 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild.

Rayfield Hearne, Sr., 80, of Andrews Passed away Monday, December 18, 2006 at his home in Andrews.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at Calvary Baptist Church in Andrews. His son, Nathaniel Hearne will officiate along with Rev. Willie Ray Fields and Rev. Julius Brooks. Burial will be in Andrews North Cemetery.
He was born on July 4, 1926 in McKelvey, Arkansas. He moved to Andrews in 1958 from McCamey, Texas. He retired from Dowell as a serviceman and then worked as tool dresser for Cobra Packers. He loved to fish, raise cattle and pigs on his land, and enjoyed gardining.
He is survived by: 3 sons - Ray Hearne, Jr. of Austin; Nathaniel Hearne of Arlington; Kenneth Hearne of Andrews; 5 daughters - Evelyn Fields of Bakersfield, California; Mittie Smith of Andrews; Gloria Hearne of Odessa; Jackuelin Hearne of Austin; and Deborah Green of Round Rock; 1 brother - I.J. Hearne of Atlanta, Texas; 2 sisters - R.T. White of Midland and Gertude White of Atlanta, Texas; 21 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.

PINTO December 15, 2006

Pinto, a five-year-old K-9 officer with Andrews County Sheriff's Department was killed in the line of duty, Friday December 15, 2006.
Memorial services for Pinto will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, December 21, 2006 on the lawn at Andrews County Courthouse. Sheriff Sam Jones and County Judge Richard Dolgener will officiate. Pinto will be laid to rest on the Andrews County Courthouse lawn.
Pinto was born June 2, 2001 in Heckova, Slovak Republic.
He received preliminary training in Germany. He was trained to become a Law Enforcement Dog in Scottville, Kentucky by Gene England. He and his partner, Mark Greenhaw, graduated and were certified as a team on April 10, 2003. He became an Officer with the Andrews County Sheriff's Department. Since Pinto has been a member of the Andrews County Sheriff's Department, he was instrumental in many drug bust, seizures, and cash seizures. On June 26, 2004, Pinto was shot in the line of duty by taking a bullet and saving his partner and at least one other officer. Pinto recovered from those injuries and returned to duty, working drug cases, tracking fugitives, and other duties.
His partner, Deputy Mark Greenhaw, as well as the other members of the Andrews County Sheriff's Department and the Andrews Police Department will miss Pinto.

Georgia was born October 27, 1917 in Comanche, Oklahoma. She married Homer Louis Jennings on August 30, 1935 in Roswell, New Mexico. They moved to Andrews in 1963. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer, in 1977.
She is survived by: Three Daughters - Evelyn and husband Kirby Perry of Apopka, Florida; Pat and Husband Bill Baldwin of Ponchatoula, Louisiana; Janie and husband Kenneth Spurlock of Raton, NM; One Son - Joe Jennings and wife Elizabeth of Big Spring, Texas; Foster Son - Greorge Anderson of Andrews, Texas. 16 Grandchildren, 26 Great-Grandchildren and 7 Great-Great-Grandchildren.

Graveside services for Willie Mae McGary, 91, of Chandler, Arizona will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 19, 2006 in the Andrews Old Cemetery with Rev. James Griffin of First Baptist Church in Andrews officiating. She passed away on Friday, December 8, 2006 at her daughter's residence in Chandler.
She was born March 9, 1915 in Brownwood to Sam Houston Robinson and Rosa Lee Gill Robinson. She married Alvie Ray "Tom" McGary on August 7, 1932 in Brownwood. They moved to Andrews in 1945 and she was a homemaker. During this time, her life was centered around her family, friends and her church, First Baptist Church of Andrews. Her husband preceded her in death on August 31, 1990. She and her friend, Willie Mae Reynolds, enjoyed many hours visiting the nursing home, hospital and shut-ins, as the "Sunshine Girls" of their Sunday School Class. She moved to Amarillo in 2001 and then Chandler in 2004 to spend her remaining years with her daughters. She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 sisters; and 3 brothers.
She is survived by 2 daughters: Wilma Perkins and husband Johnie of Amarillo and Joyce Fitzgibbons and husband Reid of Chandler, Arizona; 4 grandchildren: Rod Parker, Terri Duffy, Brent Summitt, and Joni Summitt; and 2 great grandchildren: Amanda Hernandez and Dylan Zolpe; 11 nieces and nephews; numerous great nieces and nephews who loved her and felt part of her family; and special friends in Arizona, Jennifer, Bob and Kamron Bamman.

He passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2006 at Home Hospice House in Odessa.
He was born September 26, 1911 in Prue, Oklahoma to Henry Green Broam and Ella Margaret Cole Broam. He married Elah Catherine Gibb in 1937 in McPherson, Kansas. They moved to Odessa and then to Andrews in 1938. He had worked for Barnsdale Oil Company, Stanolind Oil and Gas Company, and Pan American, which all became Amoco Production. He worked for those companies from 1937-1976 and retired as a drilling foreman. He was a charter member of the First Christian Church in Andrews. He had served on the Andrews School Board from 1943-1960. He was a Master Mason and member of the Andrews Masonic Lodge #1042 since 1943; 50 year member of the Scottish Rite; and a 32nd Degree Mason of the Shriners in El Paso since 1948. He joined the El Maida Temple in 1958. He moved to Odessa in 1990 and has been a member of the First Christian Church in Odessa. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother: Glyn Broam.
He is survived by his 1 son: Ronnie Broam and wife Pat of Livingston; 1 daughter: Erma Gean Slack and husband Arnold of Odessa; 1 sister: Roxie Hollandsworth of Lee's Summitt, Missouri; 5 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.

Mrs. Wilson was born November 21, 1926 in White County, IL. She married Terry Wilson in 1947 and they moved to Andrews in 1969 from Illinois. She worked for Wentworth and for Kirby West. She loved to take her Grandchildren on Fishing trips and vacations. She enjoyed playing bingo, and reading. She was a Charter member of the Eagles Lodge and a member of the Moose Lodge both in Andrews.
She is Survived by: Two Sons - Jeffrey Wilson of Mesquite, Texas and Timothy Wilson of Andrews, Texas; One Sister - Murial Osler of Zanesville, Ohio; Six Grandchildren and 5 Great-Grandchildren.

He was born December 9, 1943 in Winters to Weldon Bradley McCown, Sr. and Reba Silas Richards McCown. He attended Andrews schools and served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam. He married Linda Ann Morrison on December 2, 1966 in Odessa. He moved to Amarillo in 1975. He worked for Teamsters Local 577 in Amarillo for 32 years, which he served as president and business manager for 20 years. He also served as an international representative for Teamsters. He moved to Lake O.H. Ivie in 1998. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ballinger. He was a lifetime member of the VFW; Master Mason and member of H.A. McFarland Masonic Lodge in Odessa; and had served as trustee of Southern States Retirement Board. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother: Weldon "Gus" McCown.
He is survived by his wife: Linda McCown of Lake O.H. Ivie; 2 sons: Dirk McCown of San Antonio and Jason McCown and wife Traci of Amarillo; 1 stepson: Bill Morrison and wife Tina of Odessa; 2 sisters: Cozette Rutherford of Aspermont and Sue Austin of Roby; 4 grandchildren: Jayden and Jaci McCown of Amarillo and Gavin and Garrett Morrison of Odessa; numerous nephews and nieces; and his girls.

He was born February 16, 1930 in Holiday, Texas to Bumon Johnson Gross and Claudia Irene Bryant Gross. He moved to Andrews in 1947 from Seagraves and married Cherry Lee Johnson on December 9, 1950 in Andrews. He served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean Conflict. He owned and operated Gross Garage in Andrews for 52 years. He was a founding member of the Andrews Volunteer Fire Department and a member of Second Baptist Church. He loved drinking coffee with his brother and friends at Buddy's Drive In; twice a day; every day. He was preceded in death by 1 son: Gary Lee Gross in 1972; his parents; and 5 brothers.

John was born in Seagraves, Texas to Johnnie Clinton and Emma Lea (Maggard) Duffield on February 11, 1953. John was a bachelor, he worked for Smith Motor Company of Andrews for many years as a mechanic. He loved riding his motor cycle, fishing with his friends on the gulf coast and bowling.

Harold was born June 22, 1942 in Sanderson, Texas. He married Shirley Frances, July 25, 1967 in Andrews. He worked as a Driller in Texas, New Mexico, Iran, Indonesia, and Wyoming. He and Shirley moved back to Andrews in 1985 from Wyoming. Harold also worked as a Contract Pumper.
He was a member of the Andrews Church of Christ.
He enjoyed watching "Westerns" on TV and working on cars.
He was preceded in death by his parents - Clem and Nora Stout, his Son - Billy Stout in 1988; a Sister- Melva Johnson two Brothers - J.C. and Glenn Stout.

She was preceded in death by her husband on December 1, 1988; her daughter: Margaret Stroud in 1998; her parents; 3 sisters; and 2 brothers.
She is survived by her 8 daughters: LaRue Johnson of Comanche, Oklahoma, Viola Page, Martha Page, and Rosie Teakell of Andrews, Bernice Vandever of Bakersfield, California, Doris Chambers of Hawkins, Geneva Kutin of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Nona Goolsby of Houston; 1 son: J.W. Frank passed away Friday, November 3, 2006 in Odessa. He was born on May 22, 1930 in Davidson County North Carolina. He married Remona Thomson on July 15, 1953 in Killeen, Texas. Frank was an engine operator for El Paso Natural Gas company for 31 years, he retired in 1986. Frank was a member of the House of Mercy Ministries and was a veteran serving in the Army in the Korea conflict.
Survivors include, wife; Remona, Andrews. sons; Mike and Kevin of Andrews and Tony of Lamesa, brothers Junior Leonard, Mocksville, North Carolina and Bennie Leonard, Lexington, North Carolins; sisters, Leona Leonard and Carolyn Presnell both of Lexington, North Carolina and 5 grandchildren.
Frank was preceded in death by a daughter Mona Kay Leonard, a grand child Christopher and 2 brothers, Tom and Fred.

He worked as a butcher in Andrews; worked for Mustang Lumber Company; and worked for the Andrews High School as a custodian, where he retired. He was a member of Our Lady Of Lourdes Catholic Church in Andrews. He was preceded in death by his parents and 4 brothers.
He is survived by his wife: Amelia H. Morales of Andrews; 1 son: Albert Hernandez of Andrews; 2 brothers: Lino Morales of Fort Worth and Tomas Morales of Austin; and 1 sister: Dolores Morales of Monahans.

She passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2006 at her daughter's home in Waco.
She was born July 10, 1922 in El Mulato, Mexico to Antonio B. Armendariz and Petra Montoya Garcia Armendariz. She married Tomas Lujan, Sr. on February 26, 1946 in El Mulato, Mexico. They moved to Andrews in 1973. She was a homemaker and a member of Filadelfia Assembly of God Church. She was preceded in death by her husband on April 4, 1976. She was also preceded in death by 1 daughter: Anamaria Lujan; her parents; 4 sisters; and 3 brothers.
She is survived by her 1 daughter: Socorro Solis of Waco; 8 sons: Armando, Arnaldo, Tomas, Jr, Margarito, Hector, and Guadalupe Lujan, all of Andrews, Osvaldo Lujan of Mexico, and Maurilio Ramos of Andrews; 1 sister: Gloria Grado of Artesia, New Mexico; 1 brother: Demetrio Armendariz of Fort Worth; 25 grandchildren; and 32 great grandchildren.

He passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2006 at Permian Regional Medical Center in Andrews.
He was born December 9, 1953 in Dallas to James Martin McCullough and Laverne White McCullough. He has lived in Andrews for 45 years and has worked as a pumper for Bald Eagle in Andrews for 14 years. He married Carolyn Jo Martin on June 15, 1979 in Andrews. He was attending the First Assembly of God Church in Andrews. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister.

He is survived by his wife: Carolyn McCullough of Andrews; 1 son: Jerry McCullough of Odessa; 1 daughter: Carrie Lavender of Andrews; 2 brothers: Randy McCullough of Andrews and Glen McCullough of Eunice, New Mexico; 2 sisters: Barbara McCullough and Vickie Wilson of Andrews; 7 grandchildren; mother in law: Betty Combs of Alba; and father in law: Walter D. She passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2006 at Saddleridge Lodge Assisted Living in Midland.
She was born July 27, 1919 in Cisco to Jefferson Franklin Turknett and Mary Ann Page Turknett. She graduated from Cisco High School and married Forrest Weldon Noble on April 16, 1937 in Cisco. They moved to Andrews in 1946 from Abilene. Forrest and Oleta owned and operated Noble Oldsmobile in Andrews from 1946-1990, and they believed in driving a fine automobile. They received the highest customer satisifaction index award of 100% from Oldsmobile and was awarded the Oldsmobile Elite Dealer for the entire nation. Forrest preceded her in death on December 7, 2005. She was a past member of Andrews County Local Charities and Andrews Home Demonstration Club. She was a member of the Andrews Primitive Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 sisters; and 2 brothers.
She is survived by her 1 daughter: Kathleen Brewer and husband Richard of Midland; 2 sons: Rodney Noble and wife Jane of Andrews and Bradley Noble of Houston; 1 sister: Odessa Garrett of Lubbock; 1 brother: Raymond Turknett of Stephenville; 6 grandchildren: Peter Brewer and wife Nanette of Memphis, TN, Lori West and husband David of San Antonio, Kari Atchley and husband Randi of Midland, Marla Pemmaraju and husband Sankar of Colleyville, Carmen Castleberry and husband Bryan of Lampasas, April Aglipay and husband Greg of Allen; and 11 great grandchildren: Matthew Brewer, Jody and Tyler West, Avery and Kirsten Atchley, Amy Beth, Taylor and Connor Castleberry, Sarah Ashlee, Zoe Mae, and Eli Aglipay.

She graduated from Levelland High School and moved from Levelland to Andrews, where she has lived for the last 30 years. She retired from White's Home & Auto Store in Levelland and Andrews. She co-owned The Pet Walk in Andrews with her daughter. She was pentecostal. She was preceded in death by her father in 1968.

Angelita V. Hernandez, 85, of Presidio, Texas passed away Tuesday October 24, 2006 at Big Bend Regional Hospital in Alpine.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Thursday at Filadelfia Assembly of God in Andrews. Rev. Samuel Emiliano will officiate. Burial will be in Andrews North Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.
Angelita was born May 13, 1921 in Pallomas, Mexico. She married Sabino Hernandez on December 19, 1945 in Mexico. He preceded her in death in 2001. She was a homemaker and mother. She loved to cook and sew. She also loved to read the Bible. She was a member of Filadelfia Assembly of God Church in Andrews.
She is survived by: 2 Sons - Efren Hernandez of Andrews and Sergio Hernandez of Ft. Davis, Texas; 4 Daughters - Anita Guzman of Artesia, NM; Blanca Corrales of Redford, Texas; Beatrice Hernandez of Dallas, Texas and Maribel Carrasco of Presidio, Texas; 1 Brother - Pedro Valenzuela of Presidio, 4 Sisters - Juanita Carrasco of Houston; Consuela Hernandez of Midland; Rosa Hernandez of Odessa and Maria Gomez of Dexter, NM; 29 Grandchildren and 36 Great-Grandchildren.

She passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2006 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.
She was born on April 27, 1912 in Throckmorton to Rivers Kelley and Margaret Rogers Kelley. She married William Ramsey "Mack" McGuire on July 30, 1938 in Throckmorton. They moved to Andrews in 1968 from Snyder. They had owned and operated McGuire Boot and Saddle Shop in Andrews. He preceded her in death on September 20, 1976. She had worked as a cook for B&J Restaurant in Andrews and as a dietician for the Andrews Senior Citizen Center. She was a member of the Andrews Senior Citizen Center and McKinney Acres Baptist Church in Andrews. She was preceded in death by her son: Robert McGuire in 1948; her parents; 3 sisters; and 1 brother.
She is survived by her 1 daughter: Molly McCray of Denver City; 1 son: Walt McGuire of Odessa; 1 brother: Clarence Kelley of Springer, New Mexico; 4 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren.

Marian was born July 1, 1931 in Lark, Texas. She married George Dallas June 26, 1968 in Andrews, Texas. She loved to visit people and visit the Andrews Seniors Center. She also loved her sons and grandchildren. Marian was an active member of the Andrews Church of Christ and she loved her church.
She is survived by two sons; Terry Miles and his wife Linda and Steve Miles all of Midland, daughter-in-law; Mary Dallas of Dallas, Texas, three brothers; Vernon Southard of Andrews, J.M. Southard of Mineral Wells, Texas, and Luther Southard of Dallas, three sisters; Juanita Leas of Dallas, Essie Ragsdale of Hobbs, NM, Dorothy Howell of Seattle, Washington, six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

Eugene Brown, 78, of Andrews passed away Sunday October 16, 2006 at Home Hospice House in Odessa. Funeral servicces will be 2:00 PM Saturday October 21, 2006 at Means Memorial United Methodist Church. Rev. Joddie Garrett of Kermit, Rev. Julius Brooks of Midland and Rev. Bennie Andreson of Canyon will officiate. Burial will be in Andrews North Cemetery.
Mr. Brown was born June 24, 1928 in Copeland, Texas. He moved to Andrews in 1947 from Seagraves, Texas. He served in the US Army. He married Dorthy Moore January 10, 1954 in Midland, Texas. He was a heavy equipment operator for many years. He loved to play the guitar, he played in several bands over the years. He had played with Willie Nelson and Ike and Tina Turner.
He was preceded in death by three sons, his parents and one brother.
He is survived by: His wife; Dorthy Brown of Andrews, three sons; Gary Brown of Eunice, NM, Aaron Brown of Andrews and Curtis Brown of Odessa, two daughters; Mary McCain of Andrews and Zelda Brown of MArble Falls, Texas; 14 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

They moved to Andrews from Mexico in 1970. She was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady Or Lourdes Catholic Church in Andrews. She was preceded in death by her parents; son: Juan De Dios Martinez in 1969; daughter: Ema Martinez in 2005; 3 sisters; and 2 brothers.

He was born on June 11, 1926 in Lydia, Texas to Farris D. Taylor and Gladys Griggs Taylor. He served in the US Navy during WWII. He married Geneva Catherine Jackson on June 28, 1946 in Dublin. They moved to Odessa in 1946 and then to Andrews in 1954. He worked as a pumper for Texaco from 1954-1986. He had been a part-time barber at several different shops in Andrews. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Andrews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother; and 4 sisters.
He is survived by his wife: Geneva Taylor of Andrews; 1 son: Lynn Taylor and wife Jamie of Longview; 2 daughters: Cathy Hughes and husband Tom of College Station and Sheron Westmoreland and husband Larry of Eunice, New Mexico; 2 brothers: Morris Taylor of Eden Prairie, Minnesota and Bill Taylor of Andrews; 3 sisters: Faye Pool and Helen Palmer of Brownwood and Doris Bryan of Santa Anna; 5 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.

PAULA JANE WOODS LAIRD

Paula Jane (Woods) Laird, 56, of Caldwell, the wife of Rev. Don Laird, died October 8, 2006 in Bryan, Texas.

Paula was born March 8, 1950 in Fairfax, Oklahoma, the daughter of Virgil Glen & Marie (Gentzel) Woods. She was a graduate of Frank Phillips Junior College and Southwestern Assemblies of God University. On December 29, 1972, Paula and Don Laird were married in Borger, Texas. Blessed with pefect pitch, a beautiful voice and the ability to bring a piano to life with her special touch, Paula supported Don’s ministry through music over the years. Paula was a teacher’s aide at Caldwell Intermediate School. Don and Paula pastored First Assembly of God Church in Andrews. They moved to Caldwell from Andrews.
Paula’s family includes her husband, Rev. Don Laird; her daughters and son-in-law: Tonya Laird-Carvin and Tamra & Matthew Ray and her grandchildren: Dylan Ray, Ethan Ray and Brittany Carvin, all of Caldwell. She is further survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law: Bill & Jean Woods of Enid, Oklahoma and Roger & Terri Woods of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Also surviving are her parents-in-law:Donald and Dorothy Laird of Artesia, New Mexico. She is preceded in death by her parents.
Public visitation will begin on Tuesday, October 10, 2006 at 9:00 AM in Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell, Texas. The family will be present to receive callers between 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Tuesday evening.
The funeral service will be in the First Assembly of God Church, 1206 West 12th St. (corner of 12th and Banks) at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, October 11, 2006 with Rev. Don Laird officiating. Burial will follow in Providence Cemetery in the Providence community of Burleson County. Norma passed away Thursday, October 5, 2006 at her residence in Andrews. She was born on March 26, 1944 in Marion County, Alabama. She married Eugene Hyde on July 5, 1969 at Guin, Alabama. Norma worked for Kirby West and several other places in Andrews before retirement. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Eugene, Andrews; daughters Linda Ruiz and Alice Hernandez both of Andrews, Lora Bray of Sweetwater; son Bobby Hyde, Bolder, Colorado; brothers, James Howard Westbrook, Andrews and Eugene "Winky" Westbrook, Windfield, Alabama; sisters Betty Barnett, Windfield, Alabama, Dorothy Arnett and Tommie Lou Markum both of Brilliant, Alabama, six grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Jean was born April 15, 1930 in San Angelo, Texas. She married Lewis Abbott September 14, 1948 in San Angelo. They moved to Odessa in 1951. Jean was a Teacher and Coach for many years in the Ector County Independent School District, She taught at Bonham Jr. High School and Goliad Elementary School. She was an avid golfer and was a member and past president of the Permian Basin Ladies Golf Association. She won the City Championship several times. She loved her family and Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Lewis Abbott, in 2005 and a brother David Jones in 1995.
She is survived by one son,Bruce Abbott of Odessa and his Daughter Taylor of Las Angeles, California; friend,Kathy Casey of Odessa; one daughter,Carole Watts and husband Dusty and thier son Seth all of Lubbock; two sisters, Rhonda Varley of Dallas and Zachie Nichols of Aurora, Colorado.

Services for Naomi Warren, 88 of Lubbock, formerly of Andrews, will 2:00 PM Friday, August 18, 2006 in McNett Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be ministers Jack Cummings and Joe Marshall, both with Green Lawlawn Church of Christ in Lubbock. Burial will follow in the Gaines County Memorial Cemetery in Seminole under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.
Naomi passed away Saturday, August 12, 2006 in Lubbock.
She was born on November 24, 1917 in Childress, Texas. She attended high school in Ralls, Texas. She played softball and was second place winner as guard in her last years basketball tournament in 1926. Naomi married William L. Warren on May 16, 1936 in Crosbyton, Texas. They moved and lived in several states before settling in Texas "again". They lived in Lubbock where she was a bookkeeper and manager of a restaurant. They moved to Andrews in 1976. She served as a volunteer with the Permian General Hospital Auxiliary for five years, and was a kitchen supervisor for the Andrews Senior Citizens Center for four years. Mr. Warren preceded Naomi in death on May 16, 1989. Naomi moved to Alaska after his death and back to Lubbock in 2001.
Survivors include; daughters, Melba and husband Carl Ray, Brady, TX; Betha Chesser, Anchor Point, Alaska, Joyce Gill, Lubbock, Glenda and husband Milton Fariss, Brownfield, Patricia and husband Norman McNeil, Yakima, Washington, sisters Maudie Thornton and Redah Price, both of Andrews, 18 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren.
Naomi was preceded in death by two grandchildren; Zane Scott, Rex Allen Fariss, 1 great grand son, Leif Alan Herrick, five brothers and two sisters, also two son-in- laws, Nathan Chesser and Logan Gill.

Ina Mae was born August 10, 1918 at Hawley, Texas. She married Delmond Doyle (Bill) Boren November 11, 1933 in Tarzan, Texas. He preceded her in death in 1983. She was also preceded in death by: Son- Delmond George (Punk) Boren; Daughter - Birdie Evelyn Heidelberg.
She is survived by: Sons - Tim Boren of Belle Fuche, SD; Dale Boren of Ft. Worth, TX; Danny Boren of Hamilton, TX Larry Murphee of Cuching, OK; Daughters - Fay Doyle of Gatesville, TX; Sue Padgett of Robert Lee, TX; One Brother - Eugene (Dock) Jones of Arlington, TX; 27 Grandchildren; and numorous Great Grandchildren and Great-Great Grandchildren.

Marion passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2006 in Odessa.
Marion was born on December 31, 1926 at McCamey, Texas. She married Doug Chapman on December 27, 1946 at San Anagelo, Texas. Marion was a waitress at Buddy's Drive In for 28 years, she retired in 2001. She was a member of the Second Baptist Church, her husband Doug preceded her in death on May 2, 1982.

He was born May 7, 1917 in Grandfalls, Texas to Aaron Dale Cummins and Mary Jane Amberson Cummins. He served in the US Army during WWII. He married Dorothy Scarlett on November 16, 1946 in Monahans. They moved to Andrews in 1957 from Brownfield. He had worked as a electrician for Magnolia Oil, which later became Mobil, for 30 years in Brownfield and Andrews. He was a past member of Mobil Annuitant Club in Andrews. He was a member of the Andrews Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers; and 2 sisters.
He is survived by his wife: Dorothy Cummins of Andrews; 1 son: Craig Cummins and wife Bonnie of Andrews; 1 daughter: Scarlett Lee of Odessa; 1 brother: A.C. "George" Cummins of Midland; 2 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.

McDonald, brother in law from Garland, and Rev. Robert L. Lee, brother in law from Oklahoma City, officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews North Cemetery.

She passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2006 at Centennial Medical Center in Frisco.
She was born on February 8, 1957 in Carthage, Texas to A.D. Oliver and Mattie Mae Robison Oliver. They moved to Andrews in 1967, and she graduated from Andrews High School in 1974. She moved to Garland from Andrews in 1974. She worked for Verizon, which used to be GTE, as a customer care advocate since 1992. She did missionary work on her own and was a mother figure to alot of kids. She was a Baptist. She was preceded in death by her son: Tobie Lewis in 1982; her father: A.D. Oliver in 1994; and her brother: Willie Oliver in 1980.
She is survived by her mother: Mattie Oliver of Andrews; 9 sisters: Willie McDonald of Garland; Lula Parker of Slidell, Louisiana; Betty Anderson of Garland; Cris Jenkins of Benbrook; Blondiel Dawson, Margo Oliver, Ruby Grant, Crissy Bailey, and Jo Armstrong all of Andrews; 5 brothers: Jesse L. and Clyde Oliver of Odessa; Jesse D. and James Oliver of Slidell, Louisiana; and Raymond Oliver of Andrews; 5 Godsons: Isaiah, Reginald, Xavier, Keziah, and Jeremiah; and longtime family friend: Lonnie Lewis of Dallas.

Funeral services for Jim Underwood, 95, of Andrews will be 2:00 PM Monday, August 7, 2006 at the First Baptist Church in Andrews with Rev. Ivy Shelton of Sherwood Baptist Church in Odessa. Burial will follow in the Andrews Old Cemetery.
He passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2006 at Willow Hill Assisted Living Facility in Andrews.

He was born on March 24, 1911 in Andrews County around Shafter Lake to William James Underwood, Sr. and Mary Daisy Smyers Underwood. He graduated from Andrews High School in 1928; where he was the only student in the class; and loved to tell everyone he was the Valedictorian and the Salutatorian. He married Connie Mae McCarley on October 18, 1936 in Westbrook. He helped establish and serve on board for the the Andrews Boys Club; helped establish and serve on the board for Otto's Boys Ranch in Notrees; helped establish the Andrews Housing Authority; and was a past member of the Andrews Evening Lions Club. He was a member of the Andrews Masonic Lodge #1024 and had served as a past Master. He received his Master Mason Degree in 1933 and was a member of the Scottish Rite. He owned and operated a wholesale gasoline business; owned and operated Underwood Oil Company; and was a past owner of Apple Core Framing. He owned several buildings in town including one along time ago named "Main 66 Cafe". He was a member of the Commercial State Bank Coffee Drinkers Club. He took great pride in being the oldest living native in Andrews County. He loved and cared for his wife for many years, which was the joy of his life. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Andrews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife on September 14, 2005; 1 brother; and 3 sisters.
He is survived by his 1 son: James Underwood of Andrews; loved family member: Dee Becker of Midland; and 1 granddaughter: Creecy Hare of Las Vegas, Nevada.

She was born on May 2, 1942 in Fort Madison, Iowa to Bennie Lee Meeks and Audie Hazel McCoy Meeks. She had lived in Odessa since 1953. She graduated from Permian High School in 1960, which was the first class to graduate from Permian. She worked as a bookkeeper for Tommy's Jewelry Store in Odessa for 10 years. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi in Odessa. She married Walter Brooks on January 1, 1990 in Odessa. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Odessa. She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband: Walter Brooks of Odessa; 2 sons: Darren Hightower of Odessa and Mark Brooks and wife Vicki of Tulsa, Oklahoma; 1 daughter: Tammy Allison of Odessa; 1 brother: Jim Meeks of Houston; and 1 grandson: Justin Brooks of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

She passed away Monday, July 24, 2006 at Permian Residential Care Center in Andrews. She was born on November 6, 1922 in Burkburnett, Texas. She married Barney Joe Fowler on October 12, 1951 in Lovington, New Mexico. Lella was a Nurse, she attended the first nursing class offered by Permian General Hospital.She worked at Permian General Hospital and for DR.'s offices in Andrews for 30 years. She was a member of the South Side Church of Christ. Barney Joe preceded her in death on September 15, 1987. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Lloyd and E.G. Roby and two sisters; Grace McQuitty and Florence Carter

He was born on December 10, 1936 in Shafter, Texas to Manuel Rios and Concepcion Miranda Rios. He married Maria Elena Sanchez on June 11, 1960 in Odessa. They moved to Andrews in 1977 from Odessa. He worked for Kirby West Manufacturing in Andrews as a die cast foreman from 1974-2000. He enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, fishing, his truck, and his dog "Penny". He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother: Ruben Sanchez in 1979.
He is survived by his wife: Mary Rios of Andrews; 2 sons: Patrick Rios and wife Vivian of Andrews and Raymond Rios and wife Dee Anna of Frisco; 2 daughters: Carolyn Sena of Plano and Adela Silver and husband Eric of Nashville, Tennessee; 2 brothers: Robert Rios and Joe Miranda of Odessa; 2 sisters: Juanita Ramirez of Midland and Victoria Jackson of Odessa; and 7 grandchildren.

Funeral services for John Watson Ertel, 84, of Andrews will be 10:00 AM Thursday, July 27, 2006 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews with Speaker John Oliver of Andrews officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews Old Cemetery.
John passed away on Sunday, July 23, 2006 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.
John was born on February 8, 1922 to John Walter Ertel and Ida Mae Hamilton Ertel in the back of a funeral home in Mancos, Colorado. He married Joyce Elizabeth Terrill on August 15, 1942 in Long Beach, California, and they enjoyed 64 years of marriage. During their courtship, John was affectionately called "Teeter" by Joyce. He served in the US Army during World War II. John was a licensed mortician for 31 years, which was handed down to him by his father, and he operated a funeral home in Durango, Colorado for many years. Upon moving to Andrews in 1978, John worked as a mailman for the Andrews Independent School District. John was active in many things such as his love for fishing, his pleasure in manicuring yards and growing his vegetables and flowers. John enjoyed association with many people and over the years acquired some nicknames that he was fond of such as, "Tick Tac Jack and Cadillac Jack". He in return could come up with a few nicknames for others such as "Toyota Mary". John also showed a humorous side of himself as he told his fellow brothers and sisters in the Andrews Congregation to get his permission before leaving town; however he did not get our permission before he left. John was baptized on April 15, 1951 as a dedicated witness of Jehovah. He attended many Kingdom Halls which included Cortez and Norwood Colorado, Phoenix and Prescott, Arizona, and Dallas and Andrews, Texas. One of his hobbies was taking pictures of different Kingdom Halls throughout his travels. John had a good outlook on life and a great sense of humor. He had a firm belief in the Bible and the hope of the resurrection. John was preceded in death by his mother when he was 6 years old; his father; and his stepmother Edna Husman.
He is survived by his wife: Joyce Ertel of Andrews; 2 sons: Lynn Ertel of Nucla, Colorado and Vaughn Ertel of Andrews; 3 daughters: Carol Dickson of Newton, Massachusetts, Jouida Olson of Prescott, Arizona, and Lana Moore of McKinney; 3 brothers: Walter Ertel and Richard Lindsey of Cortez, Colorado, and Donnie Ertel of Sunnyvale, California; 4 sisters: Virginia Mosher and Helen Ray of Cortez, Colorado, Betty Dillon of Mancus, Colorado, and his twin sister, Jane Field of Quincy, Washington; 15 Grandchildren; and 16 Great Grandchildren.

Antonia was born January 20, 1934 in Mulato, Mexico. She married Isidro Ortiz in 1955 in Mulato, Mexico. They moved to Andrews in 1982 from Mexico. She was a mother, homemaker, and she loved her family. She was always happy and cheerful even when she was ill. She is preceded in death by 3 children, her parents, and 2 brothers.
She is survived by: her husband Isidro Ortiz of Andrews; Five Sons - Rojelio, Roberto, Wilfido, Auden and Ervey Ortiz all of Andrews; Three Daughters - Faride Martinez, of Andrews; Martha Alvarado of Midland, and Imelda Perez of Andrews; One brother - Agapito Lopez of Presidio, Texas; Three Sisters- Manuela Puentes of Kermit, Lidia Molinar of Brownfield and Elid Ramirez of Levelland, Texas; 20 Grandchildren and 4 Great-Grandchildren.

Robert was born January 22, 1953 in Hugo, Oklahoma to Julia and William Parrish. He was preceded in death by his father William Parrish in 1973 and by his Mother Julia Gowin in 2001.
He is survived by: One Brother - Bill Parrish of Edmond, Oklahoma and one Sister - Judy Pollock of Houston, Texas.

She worked for 22 years in sales for Beall's Department Store and retired in 2000. She moved to Midland in 1999. She was a Baptist. She was preceded in death by her parents and her granddaughter: Charla Hambleton Wharten in 1998.
She is survived by her 2 daughters: Rebecca Taylor and husband John of Odessa and Vanessa Helbert and husband Eddie of Andrews; 2 sons: Grover Hambleton and wife Elizabeth of Henryetta, Oklahoma and Steven Hambleton and wife Tonia of Richmond, Virginia; 13 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren.

She was born on November 8, 1929 in Loraine, Texas to Evert L. Henderson and Latriece Teaff Henderson. She was raised in Loraine; graduated from Loraine High School in 1947; and married Troy Dee Moore on June 1, 1947 in Loraine. They moved to Andrews in 1947 and then to Colorado City in 1949. She worked at City National Bank in Colorado City. They returned to Andrews in 1951, where she had worked as a clerk for the County of Andrews Auditor for 21 years. She was involved the Andrews Boy Scouts when her sons were growing up; she loved to paint and play bridge; and was a member of the Permian Basin Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years, and was a member of the Victory Singers. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on August 16, 1986; and a granddaughter: Alicia McIvoy in 1972.
She is survived by her 1 daughter: Diane Deemer and husband Dan of Midland; 2 sons: Larry Moore of Dallas and Tony Moore and wife Jessie of Campbell; 1 sister: Laverne Chalker of Colorado City; 4 grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild.

Mr. Tanner was born January 22, 1946 in Calhone, Louisiana. He married Lois Clark October 2, 1969 in Rustin, Louisiana. They moved to Andrews for the first time, over thirty seven years ago from West Monroe, Louisiana. Mr. Tanner worked in the oil field and then retired with Kirby West. He was very devoted to his faith and was an active member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness. He loved his family and friends. He was preceded in death by two sons - Douglas Arthur Tanner in 1985 and Jonnathan Tanner in 1974.
He is survived by: His Wife - Lois Tanner of Andrews; One Daughter - Amanda Loyd of Andrews; Three Brothers- E.L. Tanner of Eros, LA; Preston N. Veldon was born February 23, 1919 in New Boston, Texas. She married Truman "T.N." Hudgens in 1934 in Dekalb, Texas. They moved to Andrews in 1941 from Hobbs, NM. She was a Homemaker and Mother and she loved her cats. She was preceded in death by her Husband T.N. Hudgens in 1973 and a daughter, Thresa Bell.
She is survived by: Two Sons - Eddie Wayne Hudgens of Dumas, Texas Butch Hudgens of Las Vegas, NV; One Daughter - Glenda Hale of Plano, Texas and Eleven Grandchildren and Many Great Grandchildren and several Great-Great-Grandchildren.

James had worked for Dia-Log Wireline, Homco Wireline, Lightfoot Wireline, and had owned and operated Stuck Pipe Recovery. James was famous for his chilli and cooked at Desk and Derrick Club and many other events and functions in Andrews. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister.
James is survived by his wife: Windy Adams of Andrews; 1 son: James W.
