Alvaro (AL) C. Gonzalez, 60, of Andrews passed away Sunday, May 6, 2007 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.
Rosary service will be 7:00 PM Tuesday at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Andrews. Father Bernard Gully will officiate. Burial will be in Andrews North Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.
Al was born, March 8, 1947 in Eagle Pass, Texas. He moved to Andrews in 1969 from Kermit. Al was very proud to have served in the US Army during the Viet Nam war.
He started his Mexican food restaurant, El Amigo, in Andrews in 1980 and it has grown into one of the most popular restaurants in Andrews and people from all over the area come to get a taste of the wounderfull food, and enjoy the friendly atmosphere.
Al loved football, and the Dallas Cowboys. Al loved being with his family. He always tried to help people when he could, and he had a soft spot for stray animals.
Al was a member of the Andrews Chamber of Commerce and a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Andrews.
He is survived by; Wife - Sylvia Gonzalez of Houston, Texas; Long time Friend - Merced Burciaga of Andrews; Two Sons- Alvaro Gonzalez, III of El Paso, Texas; Cristopher B. Gonzalez of Andrews; Three Daughters - Melissa Gonzalez and Erica Gonzalez both of Spring, Texas and Crystal B. Gonzalez of Andrews; One Brother - Juan C. Gonzalez of Loving, NM; two Sisters - Otila G. Bell of Odessa; Cruz G. Bailey of Rio Rancho, NM; and 2 - Grandchildren.

May 12, 2007

Ernest Gumfory, 70, of Andrews passed away Saturday night, May 12, 2007 at Permian Residential Care Center in Andrews.
Graveside services will be 2:00 PM central time at Avis Cemetery in Avis, New Mexico. Services are under the direction of McNett Funeral Home in Andrews.
Ernest was born may 17, 1936 in Arizona. He moved to Andrews in 1992 from Roswell, NM. He married Carolyn Shoemaker November 29, 1972 in Roswell.
Ernest served in the US Army during the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife; Carolyn Gumfory of Andrews, five sons; Denny and Daniel Gumfory both of Roswell, Donny and Abner Gumfory both of Andrews and Johnny Gumfory of Kansas City, Mo.,two daughters; Rayetta Gumfory of Andrews and Karen Cecil of Portland, Or., seventeen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Lucindia Guzman, 58, of Andrews passed away Monday, May 14, 2007 at Home Hospice House in Odessa.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM Thursday, May 17, at McNett Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Love Hambrick of Odessa will officiate. Burial will be in the Andrews North Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.

Mrs. Guzman was born August 30, 1948 in Modesto, California. she moved to Seminole in 1967,she married Jose Guzman April 21, 1979 in Seminole.
They moved to Andrews in 1986 from Seminole.
She loved to do wood burning projects and was very talented. She liked to crochet, paint and go fishing. She loved taking her grandkids to Buddies Drive In to enjoy their famous steak fingers.
She is survived by her husband; Joe Guzman of Andrews, two daughters; Lydia Guadelupe Aldape of Andrews and Rachael Faye Morena of Big Spring, one son; Joe Guzman, Jr. of Seminole, two sisters; Jessica Parcell and and Marie Scobie both of Iowa, nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Geneva Gross

ANDREWS — Geneva Gross, 67, of Andrews, a homemaker, died Monday, July 20, 1998, at Methodist Hospital in Lubbock.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. today at the Andrews Old Cemetery with Leslie Gross Jr. officiating. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

She was born June 26, 1931, in Edna. She married Wesley Gross on March 8, 1947, in Seagraves. They moved to Andrews from Seagraves in 1955. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.

A son, Wesley Albert, preceded her in death.

SURVIVORS: Husband, Wesley Gross of Andrews; daughters, Marquita Johnson of San Angelo, Linda Talarsky of Chico, Debbie Dockery of Hobbs, N.M.; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Leslie Gross

ANDREWS — Leslie E. Gross, 75, of Andrews, co-owner of Superior Construction, died Saturday, August 2, 2003, at his residence.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Calvary Baptist Church with James Beard officiating. Burial will be at Andrews West Cemetary. Arrangements by McNett Funeral Home.

He was born in Holiday. He was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Bobbie Gross of Andrews; sons, Leslie E. Gross Jr. and Alton Gross, both of Andrews; daughter, Joyce Parnell of Andrews; step-children, Ronald Caraway of Puerto Rico and Connie Neatherlin of Milam; brothers, J.B. Gross, Wesley Gross and Lonnie Gross, all of Andrews; sister, Evelyn Bonham of Kermit; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

LONNIE GROSS

November 17, 2006

Funeral services for Lonnie Gross, 76, of Andrews will be 2:00 PM Monday, November 20, 2006 at Second Baptist Church in Andrews with Rev. Kevin Covington, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews Old Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home in Andrews.

He passed away on Friday, November 17, 2006 at Home Hospice House in Odessa.

He was born February 16, 1930 in Holiday, Texas to Bumon Johnson Gross and Claudia Irene Bryant Gross. He moved to Andrews in 1947 from Seagraves and married Cherry Lee Johnson on December 9, 1950 in Andrews. He served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean Conflict. He owned and operated Gross Garage in Andrews for 52 years. He was a founding member of the Andrews Volunteer Fire Department and a member of Second Baptist Church. He loved drinking coffee with his brother and friends at Buddy's Drive In; twice a day; every day. He was preceded in death by 1 son: Gary Lee Gross in 1972; his parents; and 5 brothers.

He is survived by his wife: Cherry Gross of Andrews; 1 son: Rusty Gross of Andrews; 1 daughter: Robbie Hale of Andrews; 1 brother: James B. Gross of Andrews; 1 sister: Evelyn Bonham of Kermit; 4 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild.

Lester Gross

Services for Lester Gross, 64, of Andrews will be at 2 p.m. today in Second Baptist Church with the Rev. Dan Street officiating. "Burial will be in Andrews Cemetery under direction of Singteton-Easterling Funeral Home.

Gross died Thursday, Sept. 15,, 1994, in Permian General Hospital.

He was born Feb. 16, 1930, in Holliday, Archer County, Texas to Bumon Johnson and Claudia Irene Bryant Gross. He married Lola Fowler on 04 Nov 1949 in Livingston, NM. Later, married Juanita Johnston Vowell on Dec. 29, 1979, in Andrews. He moved to Andrews from Seagraves in 1947, and he was a member of Second Baptist Church.

He was a retired auto mechanic.

Proceeded in death by his parents, Bumon Johnson and Claudia Irene Bryant Gross.

Survivors include his wife;  3 sons, Marvin Gross of Big Spring, step-son, James Fowler of Eagle Pass and Step-son, Dwayne Vowell of Quinlan; two daughters, Shirley Borders of Cedartown, Ga., and step-daughter, Malta Coffer of Roswell, N.M.; four brothers, J.B., Leslie, Wesley, and Lonnie, all of Andrews; a sister, Evelyn Bonham of Kermit; 11 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild, Sean Borders.

Wesley M. Gross

Monday, August 09, 2004

Funeral services for Wesley M. Gross, 76, of Andrews were at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Second Baptist Church in Andrews with Leslie Gross Jr. officiating. Burial followed in Andrews Old Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.

Mr. Gross passed away Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004, at Hospice House in Odessa.

He was born may 16, 1928, in Holliday. He married Geneva C. Mills on March 8, 1947, in Seagraves and they moved to Andrews that year.

He was a backhoe operator for Coats Construction for many years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva Gross, in 1998; a son, Wesley A. Gross in 1950; and two grandsons, Randal Williford Jr. and Joshua Johnson.

He is survived by three daughters, Marquita Johnson of San Angelo, Linda Talasky of Chico and Debbie Dockery of Comanche; two brothers, J.B. Gross and Lonnie Gross, both of Andrews; one sister, Evalyn Bonham of Kermit; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services for Beatrice Gaines, 83, of Canadian, Oklahoma, formerly of Andrews, will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, April 10, 2007 in McNett Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Andrews Old Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.
Beatrice passed away Friday, April 6, 2007 in MCalester, Oklahoma. She was born on August 17, 1923 in Corsicana, Texas. She married Robert Lee "Chuck" Gaines on June 24, 1939 in Erath County, Texas. Robert preceded her in death in 1979. Beatrice was a retired nurses aid and a member of the Northcrest Baptist Church.
Survivors include: son: Doug Gaines, Canadian, Ok, daughters: Betty Gaines, Andrews and Linda Drake, Glenrose, TX, 6 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

LILLIE (FAYE) GALLENTINE

Lillie (Faye) Gallentine, 84, of Andrews passed away Thursday March 15, 2007 at her home in Andrews.
Graveside Services will be 4:00 PM Saturday at Gaines County Cemetery in Seminole, Texas. Johnnie Miller of Andrews, will officiate. Arrangments are by McNett Funeral Home in Andrews.
Faye was born June 25, 1922 in Peacock, Texas.She moved to Andrews in 1972 from Stanford, Texas.Faye worked as a waitress for many years. She loved to work in her yard and garden and spend time taking care of her family.She was a Baptist.
Faye is survived by: two sons - Dick Lemons of Abilene and Donnie Lemons of Hammond, Oklahoma: one daughter - Fayrene Latimer of Andrews: one sister - Jesse Nichols of Abilene: 11 grandchildren, 14 great- grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

Elizabeth Gamboa, 13, of Andrews passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2006 at Covenant Children’s Hospital in Lubbock.
Rosary services will be at 7:00 PM Thursday, May 4, 2006 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, May 5, 2006 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Rev. Bernard Gully will officiate. Burial will follow in the Andrews North Cemetery.
Elizabeth was born June 3, 1992 in Andrews. She was a student at Andrews Middle School. She enjoyed school, and she was very family oriented. Her Grandmother, Rosie Gonzales, preceded her in death.
She is survived by: her Mother - Frances Hernandez of Andrews; her Father - Joe Gamboa, formerly of Andrews; One Brother- Michael Gamboa of Andrews; Three Sisters - Rosie Trevino, Josie Sanchez, and Delilah Gamboa all of Andrews; Grandparents - Frances and Manuel "Pewee" Barboza of Andrews; and Henry Gamboa;
Great- Grandparents - Ramon and Filipa Barrera of Roswell, NM; Aunt - Cynthia Pineda of Andrews; and Several other aunts uncles and cousins.

Services for Rev. Teodulo Garcia, 63 of Andrews, will be 2:00 PM Thursday, January 25, 2007 at the Andrews County Civic Center ( James Roberts Center). Officiating will be pastor Jose Angel Alvarez, Joel Mendoza and Robert Duran. Burial will follow in the Andrews North Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.
Teodulo passed away at his residence Monday, January 22, 2007. He was born on November 18, 1943 in Durango, Mexico. He came to Andrews in 1968 from Mexico. He married Rosa Emiliano on July 24, 1971 in Andrews. He was the pastor of Templo La Nueva Jerusalem Church in Andrews.
Survivors include; Wife Rosa, Andrews; son, Isai Garcia, daughters, Adaly and husband Nick Garcia, Ruth and husband Danny Caballero and Mayra Garcia all of Andrews; parents, Martin and Simona Garcia, Mexico; brothers, Juan Garcia, Jose Eluterio Garcia, both of Mexico, Isidro Garcia, Valentine Garcia, both of Andrews and Efrain Garcia of Hidalgo, Texas; sisters, Maria Isabell Garcia and Manuela Aguirre, both of Andrews and Maria Del Socorro, Weslaco, Texas and four grandchildren, Dianna Garcia, Marc Garcia, Caleb Caballero and Judy Caballero.
He was prededed in death by a brother Francisco Garcia and a sister Maria Carlota Hernandez.

Jewel Gibson

ANDREWS — Services for Jewel McKinney Gibson, 92, of Andrews will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Andrews Church of Christ with Mark Wilson and John Snider officiating.

Burial will be in Andrews Old Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home of Andrews.

She died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2001.

She was born July 30, 1909, in Mishobe, Okla. She married Carl Gibson on Nov. 26, 1933, in Big Spring. They moved to Andrews in 1935. She was a homemaker and a member of the Andrews Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1992, her daughter, Joyce Nelson, in 1996, her granddaughter, Jacqueline Yarbrough, in 1982 and her great-grandson, Benjamin Carl Nelson, in 1997.

Survivors include a daughter, Laverne Butler of Andrews; three sisters, Ivy Wilson, Vera Harris and Lillie Harris, all of Andrews; two brothers, Chuck McKinney and Warner McKinney, both of Andrews; three grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to the Lubbock Children's Home or Hospice House of Odessa.

Services for Gilbert Gonzales, 69 of Andrews, will be 10:00 AM Monday, April 9, 2007 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel. A prayer service will be Sunday at 7:00 PM in McNett Chapel. Burial will be in the Andrews North Cemetery.
Gilberto passed away Thursday morning, April 5, 2007 at the Home Hospice House in Odessa. He was born on May 2, 1937 in Poteet, Texas. He married Guadalupe Ramos on October 16, 1956 in Big Spring, Texas. He was a truck driver for several years before illness forced retirement. He was a Catholic.
Survivors include, wife Guadaupe of Searcy, Arkansas, special friend, Ida Garcia, Andrews, sons: Max Lopez anad Flario Gonzales both of Odessa, Gilbert Gonzales, Jr. and Ruben Gonzales both of Andrews, Johnny Gonzales, LIttle Rock, Arkansas, daughters: Bruna Mangan, Bakersfield, California, Rosario Cartwright and Josie Todd both of Monahans, Mary Jane Finley, Searcy, Arkansas, brothers: Valdemar Gonzales, George Gonzales, Roger Gonzales and Guillermo Gonzales all of Andrews, sisters: Julia Gonzales, Adrian, Michigan, Elida Balderas, San Antonio, Texas, Alicia Rivera, Poteet, Texas and Celia Gonzales, Andrews, 26 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held 10:00 AM Monday, January 16, 2006 at the church. Arrangements and cremation were under the direction of McNett Funeral Home in Andrews.
Miranda was born and passed away on Friday, January 13, 2006 at Odessa Regional Hospital.
Miranda is survived by her parents; brother: Elijah Eloy Rodriguez of Andrews; grandparents: Eloy and Carolina Lopez of Andrews; and great grandparents: Cruz and Frances Lopez of Andrews. She was preceded in death by her grandparents: Johnny and Irene Gonzales.

Randal L. Greer, 49, of Andrews passed away Friday, April 21, 2006 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews with Rev. Ted Short, Pastor of Grace Baptist Church in Andrews officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews West Cemetery.
Randal was born April 3, 1957 in Mineola, Texas. He served in the US Army from 1975 until his retirement in 1993. He moved to Andrews in 1993 from Indiana. Randal enjoyed collecting movies, bowling, and going to auctions. He also had a booth at the Flea Market in Odessa and enjoyed working it. He was a member of the Texas Road Runners.
He is survived by: One Son - Randy Greer of Pampa; Two Daughters - Pamela and Jennifer Greer both of Pampa; His Mother - Dorothy Harris of Andrews; His Father - Rudolph Greer of Morton; Two Brothers - Richard Greer of Andrews; Thomas Greer of Odessa; Two Sisters - Cindy Harper and Tammy Harris: both of Andrews; and His Best Friend - Sam Anderson of Andrews.

Kayla passed away in Andrews on Friday, June 30, 2006.
She was born on November 6, 1987 in Odessa, Texas. She had worked for KACT Radio in Andrews and was employed as a clerk with Dillards in Midland.
Survivors include: Mother and Step-Father, Brett and Debra Linton of Andrews; Father Clarece Grissom of Rhinelander, Wisconsin; sisters Sasha Grissom and Brit'ney Woolf both of Andrews and Melissa Grissom of Rhinelander, Wisconsin. Funeral services for Betty Gross, 73, of Andrews will be 2:00 PM Sunday, August 29, 2004 at Second Baptist Church in Andrews with Rev. Ivy Shelton, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews West Cemetery.
She died Thursday, August 26, 2004 at her residence in Andrews.
She was born October 28, 1930 in Sherman, Texas to James Walter Turner and Bessie Etteen Grey Turner. She graduated from Andrews High School in 1948. She married Bill Gross on January 24, 1955 in Lovington, New Mexico. She has lived in Andrews for most of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of Second Baptist Church in Andrews.
She is survived by her 4 daughters: Claudia Helms and Geraldine "Gerri" Helms of Odessa, Wanda Edmiston of Eldorado, and Diana Gross of San Angelo; 2 sons: James W. Jones of Andrews and Marvin Jones of Henderson; 1 brother: Roy Lee Turner of Pflugerville; 17 grandchildren; and 35 great grandchildren.

Bill Gross (William Jasper Gross)

Services for Bill Gross, 68, of Andrews were held at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Second Baptist Church with the Rev. Ted Short officiating.

Burial was in the Andrews Cemetery under the direction of Singleton-Easterling Funeral Home of Andrews.

Gross, a longtime resident, died Sunday at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa after a brief illness. He was born March 3, 1923, in Seymour. He married Betty Turner Jan. 24, 1955, in Lovington, N.M.

Gross moved to Andrews in 1947 from Seagraves. He was owner and operator of Bill's Garage. He was a mechanic. He was a Baptist and a member of the Andrews Fire Department.

Survivors included his wife; two sons, James Jones of An­drews and Marvin Jones of Henderson; four daughters, Claudia Helms and Geraldine Helms, both of Odessa; Wanda Edmiston of Eldorado and Diane Page of San Angelo; five brothers, J.B. Gross, Wesley Gross, Leslie Gross, Lester Gross and Lonnie Gross, all of Andrews; a sister, Evelyn Bonham of Kermit; 17 grandchildren; and three great­ grandchildren.

The family suggested memorials to the Andrews Fire Department.

Buman Johnson Gross

08 Nov 1963

Buman Johnson Gross, age 65, passed away at 1:30 a.m. Friday morning after an extended ill­ness. Gross had been in Amarillo where he became ill and was hospitalized and later transferred to Permian General Hospital here.

He lived in the 600 block of SW 6th street and had been a resi­dent of Andrews for the past 18 years moving here from Seagraves. Gross had farmed and was a mechanic for most of his life. He was the founder of the Gross garage here.

Gross was born in Cooper, ' Delta County, Texas, and February 14, 1898. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Claudia Gross, one daughter, Mrs. Harold Bonham, of Kermit; six sons, all of Andrews, W. J. "Bill", J. B., Wesley, Leslie, Lester, and Lonnie Gross and six half-brothers, Earnest McSwain, of Modesto, Cali­fornia, Russel McSwain, of Seagraves, Eldon McSwain, of Gore, Bert McSwain, of Amarillo, Frank McSwain, of Dimmitt, and Owen McSwain, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. '

Other    survivors    include    21 ! grandchildren.   Services   are  set for 3 p.m. Sunday in the Second Baptist  Church  here  with  Rev. H. F. James, of the Bethel Baptist Church, officiating,  assisted by   Rev.   Leon   Snelson, of  the Trinity Baptist Church.

Interment will follow in the An­drews Cemetery under the direction of Singleton    Funeral Home.

LONNIE GROSS
November 17, 2006

Funeral services for Lonnie Gross, 76, of Andrews will be 2:00 PM Monday, November 20, 2006 at Second Baptist Church in Andrews with Rev. Kevin Covington, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews Old Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home in Andrews.
He passed away on Friday, November 17, 2006 at Home Hospice House in Odessa.
He was born February 16, 1930 in Holiday, Texas to Bumon Johnson Gross and Claudia Irene Bryant Gross. He moved to Andrews in 1947 from Seagraves and married Cherry Lee Johnson on December 9, 1950 in Andrews. He served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean Conflict. He owned and operated Gross Garage in Andrews for 52 years. He was a founding member of the Andrews Volunteer Fire Department and a member of Second Baptist Church. He loved drinking coffee with his brother and friends at Buddy's Drive In; twice a day; every day. He was preceded in death by 1 son: Gary Lee Gross in 1972; his parents; and 5 brothers.
He is survived by his wife: Cherry Gross of Andrews; 1 son: Rusty Gross of Andrews; 1 daughter: Robbie Hale of Andrews; 1 brother: James B. Gross of Andrews; 1 sister: Evelyn Bonham of Kermit; 4 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.

OPHIA LEE "SUSIE" GROSS
October 11th, 2004

 Funeral services for Ophia Lee "Susie" Gross, 96, of Andrews will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 13, 2004 at Second Baptist Church in Andrews with Rev. Ivy Shelton, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews Old Cemetery.
She died Monday, October 11, 2004 at Stanton Care Center in Stanton.
She was born May 11, 1908 in Trent, Texas. She moved to Andrews in 1952 from Midland. She married J.O. "Shorty" Bass, and he preceded her in death in 1981. She married Henry "Scotty" Gross, and he preceded her in death in 1981. She was a homemaker and a member of the Second Baptist Church.
She was also preceded in death by her 2 sisters: Jessie Fredrick and Joye Ragle; and 1 brother: J.D. Flood.
She is survived by her 5 sons: Jessie Bass of San Diego, California, Otis Bass of Amarillo, Troy Bass, Claude Bass, and Jerry Bass, all of Midland; 1 daughter: Betty Jean Armstrong of Cisco; 1 step daughter: Mickie Berry of Redding, California; 5 sisters: Roxie Owens of Ada, Oklahoma, Jonnie Johnson of Midland; Josie Van Ness of Fort Worth; Dorothy Jogupolus of Pittsburg, California, and Connie Roe of Llano; 2 brothers: Thomas Flood of Odessa and Foye Flood of Abilene; 14 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and 5 great great grandchildren.

FORREST B. GUEST
February 24, 2007

Forrest B. Guest, 77 of Andrews, passed away Saturday, February 24, 2007 at his residence. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of McNett Funeral Home. Memorial services will be at a later date.
Forrest was born on August 31, 1929 at Sonora, Texas. He married Marietta Dawn Rucker on January 29, 1949 in Del Rio, Texas. He was a long time Andrews resident, working as a ranch manager and a truck driver. He was a member of McKinney Acres Baptist Church.
Survivors include; Wife Marietta, Andrews, daughters; Haroletta Henry, Rockdale, TX, Billy Dell Brumbelow, Hutto, TX, Forrest Ann Roubison, Eldorado, TX and Jannie Lemond, Andrews, sister; Clara Dell Jones, San Angelo, TX ten grandcildren and seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Johnny B., Homer Ray Guest and a brother, William "Bill" Guest.

 

HOMER RAY GUEST
January 7, 2006

Funeral services for Homer Ray Guest, 50, of Gardendale will be 4:00 PM Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews with Rev. Trae Johnson, Pastor of Believers Way Church in Midland, officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews Old Cemetery.
Homer passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2006 at his residence in Gardendale.
Homer was born on January 20, 1955 in Beaver, Oklahoma to Forrest B. Guest and Marietta Dawn Rucker Guest. He was raised all of his life in Andrews and graduated from Andrews High School in 1972. He moved to Gardendale in 2002. He owned and operated Guest Welding Service for 30 years in Andrews and surrounding area, where he worked for oil pipeline companies and plants. He married Julie Kennedy on December 30, 1977 in El Paso. He loved being a cowboy all his life and started competing at a very young age. He had competed in calf roping, was a champion bull rider, and was an avid team roper for the last 20 years. He was a member of the United States Team Ropers Association, Coors Roping Association, and National Kidney Foundation. He was a member of Believers Way Church in Midland. He was preceded in death by his brother: Johnny B. Guest in 1959.

He is survived by his wife: Julie Guest of Gardendale; son: Jason McCoy of Kyle; daughter: Kelly Guest-Martin of Center Point; parents: Forrest B. and Marietta Guest of Andrews; 4 sisters: Haroletta Henry of Rockdale, Billy Dell Brumbelow of Hutto, Forrest Ann Roubison of Eldorado, and Jannie Lemond of Andrews.
Family requests in lieu of flowers that memorials may be sent to National Kidney Foundation, 306 West Wall Street, Midland, Texas 79701 on Homer's daughter's behalf. Kelly is on the transplant list for a kidney.

 

JORDAN LEE 'BUSTER' GUNN
January 30, 2006

Memorial services for Jordan Lee "Buster" Gunn, 80, of Andrews will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 1, 2006 in McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews with Rev. Bob Zap of Andrews officiating. Private graveside services will be held in the Andrews West Cemetery.
He died Monday, January 30, 3006 at Alliance Hospital in Odessa.
He was born May 11, 1925 in Flomot, Texas to J. L. Gunn and Irene G. Moffitt Gunn. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during WWII. He moved to Andrews in 1952 and had lived in Odessa from 1970-1974. He worked for Exxon in Andrews for 26 years and retired as a maintenance foreman. He was a past volunteer for the Andrews Food Bank. He married Evelyn Joyce Thoms on April 18, 1970 in Odessa. He attended Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Odessa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother; and 1 sister.
He is survived by his wife: Joyce Gunn of Andrews; 3 daughters: Peggy Chew of San Antonio, and Diann Perkins and Della Weaver of Odessa; 1 sister: Jewell Pennington of Lubbock; and 1 grandson: Joseph Weaver of Odessa.
Memorials may be sent to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Foundation.

 

JOYCE GUNN
April 14, 2007

Joyce Gunn, 80, of Andrews passed away Saturday, April 14, 2007 at Home Hospice House in Odessa.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-8 PM at McNett Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, at Andrews West Cemetery, followed by a Memorial Service at 3:00 PM at McNett Funeral Home Chapel. Arrangements are by McNett Funeral Home in Andrews.
Joyce was born June 24, 1926 at Gonzales, Texas. She moved to Andrews in 1974. Joyce spent many years serving in both the Permian Regional Medical Center Auxiliary in Andrews and the Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary. Her specialty was making tray favors for the patients. Joyce took great care in making sure patients had something on their tray to cheer them up. She also served on the State Board as chairman of many committees from 1994 through 2005. She devoted much of her time and love towards the Auxiliary women making friends from all over the state.
She and her husband Buster loved Country and Western dancing, traveling to various little towns for just that purpose. They also traveled extensively after they retired and really loved taking Dan Dipert bus tours around the country. They also traveled to Mexico, Canada, Europe and Australia.
She was an active member of the Red Hat Society and was the charter Queen Mother of the "Red Hatters" in Odessa.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Buster Gunn in 2006 and five sisters and one brother and her parents.
She is survived by three daughters - Peggy Chew of San Antonio; Diann Perkins and Della Weaver both of Odessa. One brother - Walter Thoms of Taylor, Texas and one grandson - Joseph Weaver of Odessa.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer society or the Permian Regional Medical Center Auxilliary.

CELIA GUTIERREZ
March 18, 2007

Celia Gutierrez, 63, of Andrews passed away Sunday March 18, 2007 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.
A Rosary will be held at 7:00 PM Tuesday at McNett Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday at Our Lady Of Lourdes Catholic Church, Rev. Bernard Gully will officiate. Burial will be in Andrews North Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.
Celia was born March 27, 1943 in Alpine, Texas. She moved to Andrews in 1975 from Seminole, Texas.
She loved to listen to music and enjoyed raising plants and flowers and even played music for them too. She loved to watch scarry movies and shop. And she loved to be with her family.
She is survived by: five sons - Mike and wife Lola Garcia of Andrews; Javier and wife Mikki Gutierrez and Ralph and wife Lori Gutierrez both of Florida; Silvianoand wife Toni Gutierrez and Frank and wife Norma Gutierrez both of Andrews; two daughters - Nora Wake and husband John of Andrews and JoAnn Rodriguez and husband Jose Louis of Hobbs, NM.,one sister - Estella Llanez of Hobbs, NM; 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
