Ellis C. Poole, 95, of Andrews passed away Sunday May 20, 2007 at Permian Residentual Care Center in Andrews.
Graveside services are 10:00 AM Wednesday May 23, 2007 at Andrews North Cemetery. Rev. James Horne, Pastor at Andrews Church of God, will officiate. Burial will be in Andrews North Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.
Mr. Poole was born April 19,1912 in Jackson, Mississippi. He waorked as a Pipe Fitter and Boiler Maker. He married Elizabeth Boykin, June 7, 1971 in Mississippi. They moved to Andrews in 2005.
Mr. Poole was a member of the Andrews Church of God and he loved to play the Guitar and work outdoors.
He is survived by: Wife - Elizabeth Poole of Andrews; One Daughter - Jan Hutchison of Mississippi; Two Sons - Michael Poole of Florida and Timothy Poole of Mississippi; Two Sisters - Addie Elaine Poole of Jackson, MS; and Euler Hammock of Jackson, MS; and Eight Grandchildren.

CHARLIE PORTER
May 14, 2007

Services for Charley Brooks Porter, 72 of Andrews, will be 2:00 PM Friday, May 18, 2007 in McNett Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Ted Short, pastor of Grace Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Andrews North Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.
Charley passed away Monday, May 14, 2007 at Permian Regional Medical Center in Andrews. He was born on November 23, 1934 in Culman, Alabama. Charley married Opaline Presson, November 17, 1979 in Odessa, Texas. Charley was a member of the Grace Baptist Church in Andrews.
Survivors include, wife: Opaline, Andrews, Texas. Daughters: Barbara Mayo and Peggy Snell both of Hobbs, New Mexico and Elizabeth Hayes, Andrews. Brothers: Ed Easter, Birmingham, Alabama and Joe Easter, Stephens City, Virginia. Sister: Ruby Nell Boseman, Muscle Shoals, Alabama, seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

CHARLENE PARKER
September 3, 2006

Services for Charlene Parker, 83 of Athens, formerly of Andrews, will be 2:00 PM Thursday, September 7, 2006 in McNett Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Ted Short, pastor of Grace Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Andrews North Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.
Charlene passed away Sunday, September 3, 2006 in Athens. She was born on May 5, 1923 in Sweetwater, Texas. She married John Parker on May 23, 1942 in Ballinger, Texas. Charlene was a beautician in Andrews for many years before retirement. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Andrews.
Survivors include; daughter, Kathryn and husband Weldon Holcombe, Payne Springs, Texas; two sisters, Evelyn Gardner, New Boston, Texas and Jean Templeton, Chandler, Texas, three grandchildren, Lisa Rhoades, LeAnne Wilson, both of Payne Springs, Texas and Diana Nichols, McKinney, Texas, six great grandchildren, Charlene was preceded in death by her husband, John Parker on December 9, 2005. Also 3 brothers, Buford, John and Bill Chesney and 1 sister, Juandell Milldeton.

 

 

ROBERT LYNN PARRISH
July 17, 2006

Robert Lynn Parrish 53, of Snyder, Oklahoma passed away Monday, July 17, 2006, at a nursing home in Snyder, Oklahoma.
Graveside Services will be held 10:00 AM Friday July 21 at Andrews Old Cemetery. Rev. Ted Short will pastor of Grace Baptist Church, in Andrews, will officiate.
Robert was born January 22, 1953 in Hugo, Oklahoma to Julia and William Parrish. He was preceded in death by his father William Parrish in 1973 and by his Mother Julia Gowin in 2001.

He is survived by: One Brother - Bill Parrish of Edmond, Oklahoma and one Sister - Judy Pollock of Houston, Texas.

 

 

EMORY PENNY
February 20, 2005

Emory E. Penny, 83, of Andrews passed away Sunday February 20, 2005, at Permian Residential Care Center in Andrews.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, at McNett Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Rick Doyle will officiate. Burial will be in Andrews West Cemetery.
Mr. Penny was born February 12, 1922 in Dekalb, Texas. He married Ann Murrel Page January 23, 1943 in Texarkana, Texas. They moved to Andrews in 1957. He was a Mechanic and loved to work on engines and cars. He loved to go camping with his family. His favorite places were in the mountains of New Mexico and Colorado. He was a very loving Father and Grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and one sister.
He is Survived by: Wife Ann Penny of Andrews; Two Sons-Emory Donald Penny of Arlington and Glenn Penny of Andrews; Two Brothers- Dewey Penny of Clarksville, and Eddy Penny of West Point, ; One Sister- Evelyn Arterbury of Texarkana, Arkansas; 4-Grandchildren and 12-Great-Grandchildren.

LORAINE C. PERRY
June 17, 2006

Loraine C. Perry, 84, of Andrews passed away on Saturday, June 17, 2006 at Midland Memorial Hospital.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, June 22, 2006 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews with The Rev. Josie Rose of Santa Maria Virgin Episcopal Church in Midland and Deacon Darla Jimenez of St. Mathias Episcopal Church in Andrews officiating.
Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Monday, June 26, 2006 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.
Loraine was born October 30, 1921 in San Antonio to Joseph Arthur Clingman and Lorine Elizabeth Tengg Clingman. She graduated from Brackenridge High School in San Antonio in 1938 and was the cadet commander of the high school's Purple Jacket Drill Team. Following her graduation from Texas State College For Women in Denton with a Bachelor's Degree in Home Economics, Loraine attended Texas Tech University for postgraduate work. During WWII, she worked for the U.S. Social Services in San Diego, California. On December 8, 1945, Loraine and Lee Neblett Perry, Jr. were married at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in San Antonio. Before moving to Andrews in 1971, she lived in Hobbs, New Mexico and taught school. She was a past member of St. Christopher's Episcopal Church in Hobbs and served as head of the Women of the Church. Since her move to Andrews, she has been a member of St. Mathias Episcopal Church in Andrews and a longtime member of the American Association of University Women.
Loraine was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Perry, on February 28, 1993; her parents; and her son: William Lee Perry in 1952.
Loraine is survived by her daughter: Mary Casanova of Anacortes, Washington; Mary's fiance': Joe Gleason; daughter: Margaret Lee Perkins of San Antonio; Margaret's husband: Robert Perkins; and her granddaughter: Elizabeth Dawn Sauceda of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

HORACE PHELPS
February 19, 2006

Masonic graveside services for Horace Phelps, 95, of Andrews will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 22, 2006 in the Andrews Old Cemetery with Rev. Rick Doyle, Pastor of Means Memorial United Methodist Church in Andrews and the Andrews Masonic Lodge #1024 officiating.
Horace passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2006 at Permian Regional Medical Center in Andrews.
He was born January 16, 1911 in Anson to John B Phelps and Sue Tarpley Phelps. He came to Andrews in 1955 with wife, Marjorie, and son Lewis. While in Andrews, Horace, spent most of his time working at Cass Electric where he always had a story to tell and a cup of coffee to go with it. Horace was a lifetime member of the Andrews Masonic Lodge #1024 having been a member for over 50 years. He was also a 33 degree member of the Scottish Rite as well as a Shriner at the El Maida Shrine of El Paso. For many years, he was a member of the Andrews Mesquite Burners of the Andrews Chamber of Commerce. Horace also worked with the Andrews High School Band Booster's Club as well as serving as its President for more than one year. Horace had been a long time member of the Means Memorial Methodist Church. Horace is preceded in death by his father, mother, one brother and his wife of 62 years, Marjorie, on August 12, 2005.
He is survived by his son, Lewis Phelps of Quinlan, Texas.

DOROTHY "DOT" PINNELL
February 1st, 2005

Funeral services for Dorothy "Dot" Pinnell, 77 of Andrews will be 2:00 PM Friday, February 4, 2005 in Means Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Rick Doyle, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews Old Cemetery.
She died Tuesday, February 1, 2005 at Permian Regional Medical Center in Andrews.
She was born on December 13, 1927 in El Dorado, Arkansas. She graduated from Andrews High School in 1944 and attended Texas Women's University. She married Billy Hart "Bill" Pinnell on May 10, 1946 in Andrews. She had been very involved in the Andrews County 4-H, and she was a licensed pilot. Her husband preceded her in death on March 22, 1999. She was a homemaker and a member of Means Memorial United Methodist Church in Andrews.
She is survived by her daughter: Judy Crabtree and husband Larry of Vernon; 2 sons: Brent Pinnell of Andrews and Paul Pinnell of Dallas; 2 sisters: Kay Condren of Miami, Oklahoma and Cindy Duncan of Fairfield; and 2 grandchildren: Ross Crabtree of Dallas and Lori Crabtree of Carrollton.

JOHN PARKER
December 9, 2005

Services for John F. Parker, 90 of Andrews, will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 13, 2005, in McNett Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Ted Short, pastor of Grace Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Andrews North Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.
John died Friday, December 9, 2005 in Andrews. He was born on May 15, 1915 at Ballinger, Texas. He married Charlene Chesney on May 23, 1942 in Ballinger. They came to Andrews in 1950. John worked for Pan American Oil Company as a roustabout and later worked to Frost Bread Company retiring in 1970. John was a member of the Grace Baptist Church.
Survivors include; wife Charlene, Andrews, daughter, June Holcombe and husband Weldon,Payne Springs, Texas, three grandchildren, Lisa Rhoades, LeAnne Wilson and Diana Nichols and six great-grandchildren.

 

Jim Peoples

CRANE Jim Peoples Sr., 74, of McCamey, a retired pusher for T&K

Oilfield Co., died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2000, at Memorial Hospital and

Medical Center.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Crane County

Cemetery with the Rev. Lyndel Lee officiating. Arrangements by

Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.

He was born in Del Rio and had been a longtime resident of Crane

before moving to McCamey. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

SURVIVORS: Son, Jim Peoples Jr. of McCamey; daughters, Judy Timmons of

McCamey and Anna Gunnels of Midland; brother, Charlie Peoples of

Crane; sisters, Wilma Williams of Sabinal, Bill Pilgram of Andrews and

Lottie Burdic of Ingram; seven grandchildren; and three

great-grandchildren.

PINTO
December 15, 2006

Pinto, a five-year-old K-9 officer with Andrews County Sheriff's Department was killed in the line of duty, Friday December 15, 2006.
Memorial services for Pinto will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, December 21, 2006 on the lawn at Andrews County Courthouse. Sheriff Sam Jones and County Judge Richard Dolgener will officiate. Pinto will be laid to rest on the Andrews County Courthouse lawn.
Pinto was born June 2, 2001 in Heckova, Slovak Republic.
He received preliminary training in Germany. He was trained to become a Law Enforcement Dog in Scottville, Kentucky by Gene England. He and his partner, Mark Greenhaw, graduated and were certified as a team on April 10, 2003. He became an Officer with the Andrews County Sheriff's Department. Since Pinto has been a member of the Andrews County Sheriff's Department, he was instrumental in many drug bust, seizures, and cash seizures. On June 26, 2004, Pinto was shot in the line of duty by taking a bullet and saving his partner and at least one other officer. Pinto recovered from those injuries and returned to duty, working drug cases, tracking fugitives, and other duties.
His partner, Deputy Mark Greenhaw, as well as the other members of the Andrews County Sheriff's Department and the Andrews Police Department will miss Pinto.

 

 Bertha Price

ANDREWS (Special) Services for Bertha "Birdie" Price, 86, of Andrews will be 10 a.m. Monday in the Andrews Church of Christ with Les McGalliard of Andrews Church of Christ and John Snider of Greenwood Church of Christ officiating.

Burial will be at 4 p.m. in Littlefield Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.

She died Saturday, Oct. 16, 1999.

She was born Oct. 5, 1913, in Comanche. She married E.E. Savage. He died in 1969. She married H.D. Price on Aug. 21, 1981. She worked in the Littlefield schools cafeteria and was a member of the Andrews Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Joann Curry of Pettus, June Little of Pampa and Pernice Durrett of Jasper; two stepsons, Curtis of Andrews and Lee of Bastrop; two stepdaughters, Nelda French of Whiteface and Cherry Potter of El Paso; brothers, Hiley Nicholson of Ontario, Ore., and Don Nicholson of Gallup, N.M.; sisters, Florence Morgan and Zola Faye Stewart, both of Seagoville; 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Mollie Wade Price

1910-2006

Odessa Our Mother and Grandmother fought a hard battle, she won the victory, and has gone to her Heavenly home to be with her Heavenly Father, God, and her loved ones that have gone before, what a reunion that will be! She passed away February 16, 2006 at Odessa Hospice.

Mollie Wade Price was born March 16, 1910 to P.W. (Uncle Pal) and Lilla Martin in Whiteflat, Texas where she also graduated from high school. She accepted Christ as her Savior as a young girl. Mrs. Price was a member of Temple Baptist Church since 1967.

She married Bunyan Sterling Price November 3, 1934. He preceded her in death on December 23, 1971.

Mollie came to Andrews County in 1955 and moved to Andrews in 1957 where she started a career in childcare for the public. She later moved to Odessa in 1967 where she continued childcare until her late 80’s in her home at 1910 N. Hancock. She touched the lives of many children and babies. It was usual to see her in the chair with three or four on her lap rocking. Every morning when it came time for the little ones to come to Price’s house, they were ready because she had plenty of love for them all. Even working hard, she was ready to do for her children and grandchildren. She was always there for her family.

Preceding her in death are her husband, parents, five sisters, three brothers, a grandson, and a great grandson.

Mrs. Price is survived by her daughter Mildred and Odell Arnold, Stratford; daughter Wilma and Oliver Goldston, Lake Brownwood; son Melvin and Lou Ann Price, Odessa; and son Jerry and Susan Price, Denton. Grandchildren are Donny and Janice Arnold, Judy Gretz, Debbie and Gerald McDaniel, Ronnie and Dena Arnold, Terry and Mike Elder, Matt Goldston, Kelly Goldston, Rick and Connie Price, Mike and Tammy Price, Lori and Terry Wilkerson, Brian and Dana Price, and Kristie and Jave Tan. Twenty eight great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday in the Temple Baptist Church Chapel with Rev. Kyle Rodgers officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Grandsons will be pallbearers.

Services entrusted to Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

January 18, 2006

Saige Naysa Price, 6 month old infant daughter of Brandon and Kristi Price of Andrews, passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2006 at Covenant Medical Center Lakeside in Lubbock.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, January 21, 2006 at First Baptist Church in Andrews. Dr. Jeff Donnell, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in the Andrews Cemetery.
Saige was born June 29, 2005 in Lubbock, Texas. Saige was a beautiful miracle from God, and her Daddy's little "Peanut".
Saige is survived by: her Mom and Dad, Brandon and Kristi Price of Andrews; Her Big Brother, Layton Price of Andrews, Grandparents-James and Tonya Beard, Lyn and Patti Hudson, and Claude Price all of Andrews; Great-Grandparents - Raymond and Snookie Hudson of Crane; Walter and Ruby Burson of Andrews, Hedy Irwin of Andrews; Barbara and Jerry Deaver of Andrews; and James Buddy Beard of Hugo,Oklahoma..

 

Lucille Pryor
ANDREWS — Lucille Pryor, 83, of Andrews, a retiree of Permian General Hospital and the Nursing Home in Andrews, died Thursday, July 15, 2004.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at McNett Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jeff Donnell officiating. Burial will be at Andrews West Cemetery. Arrangements by McNett Funeral Home.
She was born in Loxsburg, Ark. She was a Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Son, Don Pryor of Andrews; daughters, Winnita Stalling of Pittsburg, Kan., Sue Cortney of Denver City, Peggy Pryor and Melodye Pryor, both of Andrews and Penny McCullough of Eunice, N.M.; sisters, Winnie Langford of Lubbock, Edith Carruth of Marble Falls and Juanita Clem of Sweetwater; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandson.

Frances Puckett

ANDREWS-Frances Ann Puckett, 47, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 1999, at Medical Center Hospital.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Andrews North Cemetery with the Rev. John McQueen officiating. Arrangements by McNett Funeral Home. She was born in Seminole and moved to Odessa in 1990 from Andrews. She

was Baptist.

SURVIVORS: Husband, Harry Puckett, of Odessa; daughter, Laura Garrigan, of Kerrville; sons, Billy Lee Puckett of Kerrville, James

Puckett and Mark Puckett, both of Andrews; brothers, Lonnie G. Cox Jr. of Azle and Robert Lee Cox of El Paso; sister, Faye Timmons of Andrews; and 15 grandchildren.
