CHARLOTTE UNDERWOOD
February 5, 2007

Charlotte Ann Underwood, 56, of Midland lost a long and couragous battle with MS Monday February 5, 2007.
Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday February 7, 2007 at Andrews West Cemetery. Rev. Bryan Johnson form Home Hospice of Andrews will officiate. Services are under the direction of McNett Funeral Home in Andrews.
Charlotte was born January 1, 1951 in Hobbs, NM and was the first baby of the new year in Hobbs.
She married Jo Ed Underwood November 17, 1987 in Midland, and moved to Andrews where she lived until moving to Midland 2 years ago. She was a homemaker and mother. She loved to play Bingo, work crossword puzzles, listen to music, and watch Humming Birds. She also loved flowers and butterflies.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jo in 1998.

She is survived by: Two Daughters - Kim Turner of Ceader Park, TX; and Karen Shouse of Vidor, TX; One Son - Brian Norris of Oklahoma; Step-son -Ed Underwood and Step-daughter - Cindy Cordova both of Lindell, Texas; Two Brothers - Dwayne Freeman of Merkel and Miron Sargent of Keller; One Sister - Pat Osborne of Midland, Texas; and Four Grandchildren.
The family would like to express thier gratitude to the Staff of Terrace West Nursing Home and Home Hospice of Midland for the wounderful loving care of thier Mother, Grandmother and Sister.

CONNIE MAE UNDERWOOD

September 14, 2005

Funeral services for Connie Mae Underwood, 89, of Andrews will be 2:00 PM Friday, September 16, 2005 at the First Baptist Church in Andrews with Dr. Jeff Donnell, Pastor, and Rev. Ivy Shelton, Pastor of Sherwood Baptist Church in Odessa, officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews Old Cemetery.

She passed away on Wednesday, September 14, 2005 at Permian Regional Medical Center in Andrews.

She was born October 16, 1915 in Mitchell County, Texas to Albert Lowrey McCarley and Lila Sanders McCarley. She has lived in Andrews since 1924 and graduated from Andrews High School in 1934. She married William James "Jim" Underwood, Jr. on October 18, 1936 in Westbrook, Texas. She was a charter member of the First Baptist Church and was the first secretary for the church. Most of all she was a great housewife, mother, and MeMaw.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 1 sister: Grace Dowlen; and 1 brother: A.W. McCarley.

She is survived by her husband: Jim Underwood of Andrews; 1 son: James Underwood of Andrews; 3 sisters: Ruby Walker of Lubbock, Ila Fay Dement of Pasadena, Texas, and Louis Irwin of Odessa; and 1 grandchild: Creecy Hare of Las Vegas, Nevada; and a loved family member: Dee Becker of Midland (formerly of Andrews).

Memorials may be sent to Andrews Senior Center, 310 West Broadway, Andrews, Texas 79714 and the Alzheimer's Association.

WILLIAM JAMES 'JIM' UNDERWOOD
August 3, 2006

Funeral services for Jim Underwood, 95, of Andrews will be 2:00 PM Monday, August 7, 2006 at the First Baptist Church in Andrews with Rev. Ivy Shelton of Sherwood Baptist Church in Odessa. Burial will follow in the Andrews Old Cemetery.
He passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2006 at Willow Hill Assisted Living Facility in Andrews.

He was born on March 24, 1911 in Andrews County around Shafter Lake to William James Underwood, Sr. and Mary Daisy Smyers Underwood. He graduated from Andrews High School in 1928; where he was the only student in the class; and loved to tell everyone he was the Valedictorian and the Salutatorian. He married Connie Mae McCarley on October 18, 1936 in Westbrook. He helped establish and serve on board for the the Andrews Boys Club; helped establish and serve on the board for Otto's Boys Ranch in Notrees; helped establish the Andrews Housing Authority; and was a past member of the Andrews Evening Lions Club. He was a member of the Andrews Masonic Lodge #1024 and had served as a past Master. He received his Master Mason Degree in 1933 and was a member of the Scottish Rite. He owned and operated a wholesale gasoline business; owned and operated Underwood Oil Company; and was a past owner of Apple Core Framing. He owned several buildings in town including one along time ago named "Main 66 Cafe". He was a member of the Commercial State Bank Coffee Drinkers Club. He took great pride in being the oldest living native in Andrews County. He loved and cared for his wife for many years, which was the joy of his life. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Andrews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife on September 14, 2005; 1 brother; and 3 sisters.
He is survived by his 1 son: James Underwood of Andrews; loved family member: Dee Becker of Midland; and 1 granddaughter: Creecy Hare of Las Vegas, Nevada.
Memorials may be sent to the Andrews Senior Center or the Andrews Masonic Lodge #1024.

 

HOPE FRANCES UPCHURCH
October 28, 2006

Hope Frances Upchurch, infant daughter of Stacy Upchurch was born and died Saturday October 28, 2006 at Permian Regional Hospital in Andrews.
Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday November 1, 2006 at Andrews North Cemetery. Rev. Kerry Tilley, pastor of First Assembly of God Church in Andrews will officiate.
Baby Hope is survived by: Her Mother - Stacy Upchurch of Andrews; Aunts - Casey Upchurch and Amy Upchurch both of Bridgeport, Texas; Uncle - David Upchurch of Odessa, Grandparents - Jimmy Upchurch of Bridgeport; Alva Upchurch of Ft. Worth; Ben and Jimmie Kemp of Andrews.
