S. L. Hilton was in Co., H, 56th
Reg't Georgia Infantry-served as a Lieutenant-in Co. H of
56th Reg't of Ga. Volunteers Cummings Brigade. Also, as a
private in the same Company was taken prisoner at
Vicksburg, Miss, July 4,1863 and paroled at
Vicksburg, Miss, July 8,1863 furloughed at:
Enterprise-,Miss. July 23,1863 Inspection report shows S. L.
Hilton in hospital near Lovejoy Station on Sept, 16, 1864
wounded. He was awarded $100.00 a year pension.Buried in
Pleasant Hill Methodist Cemetery
