Old Ackerly Cemetery

The Old Ackerly Cemetery is across the Farm to Market Road, from Fair Haven.

 
My grandfather, Cartis White (1903- 1991) held the records and maps for the cemetery since, I guess the cemetery was started in 1923 or '24 when the town was 'founded'. Shortly before his death in 1998,  he passed the 'honor' to my cousin, Reggie Hambrick.
 
My mother recalled her father, Cartis, saying that they 'hit rock' opening a grave in the Old Cemetery and moved across the road. That was in 1927.
