Stanton Newspaper 3/18/1965 J.D Green, 25, was killed instantly Thursday when he came in contact with a high voltage line while working north of Midland. Green, well known in Stanton and residing of Big Spring with his wife and two sons, was pronounced dead on arrival at Midland Memorial Hospital at 2:20 pm shortly after the mishap. Justice of the Peace John Biggs of Midland returned an inquest verdict of accidental death from electrocution. Green was an emploee of the R&S Construction Co, which was installing a power line for an irrigation project for the Cap Rock Rural Electric Cooperative of Stanton. He was working atop a pole when he is thought to have accidentally hit the line carrying 7,200 volts. He apparently died instantly, witenesses said. Green was born May 10, 1949 at Dimmitt and moved to Stanton with his parents in 1956. He was married to the former Mary Ann Boon in Stanton on December 23, 1959. They have two sons and for the past two months have been living in Big Spring. Survivors include his widow; two sons, Lonnie Dale Green and Danny Lee Green, all of Big Spring; his parents, Mr & Mrs O. D Green of the Valley View Community in Martin County; two brothers, Buddy Green of Stanton, and Lonnie E Green of Valley View; two sisters, Mrs Billy Ray Allred of Stanton and Mrs. Paul Gerdes of Spencer Iowa and a grandmother, Mrs F.H Lippe, Monahans. Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon at 3 pm in the First Methodish here with Rev C. R LeMond officiating. The final rites were under the dircetion of Arrington-Gilbreath Funeral Home.
