Rafael "Popeye" Rodriguez II, 84, of Stanton, died on Sunday, April 10, 2005,
in a Midland hospital. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, April
13, 2005 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stanton with Rev. Thomas
Vempala, officiating. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in
Stanton.

The family suggests memorials to: St. Joseph Catholic Church, P.O. Box 846,
Stanton, Texas 79782.

A rosary will be held at 7 P.M. Tuesday, April 12 at the funeral home. He was
born on May 20, 1920, in Marfa, Texas and married Juana Rosales on February
19, 1944 in Big Spring, Texas.

Mr. Rodriguez was a longtime resident of Martin County. He farmed for many
years and was employeed by Franklin and Son for 15 years before retiring. He
was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was also a member of the Lucky
Boys Band.

Survivors include his wife, Juana Rodriguez of Stanton; six sons, Luis
Rodriguez of Stanton, Lupe Rodriguez and Martin Rodriguez both of Big Spring,
Albert Heredia of Odessa, Emilio Rodriguez of Caldwell, and Rafael Rodriguez
III of San Angelo; three daughters, Tomasa Rodriguez, Ynez Moreno and Sabina
Tracy all of Stanton; 36 grandchildren, 79 great grandchildren and 2 great
great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rafael and Monica Rodriguez; one son,
Celestino Rodriguez; four brothers, Facundo Rodriguez, Victor Rodriguez,
Santos Rodriguez and Gabino Rodriguez; two sisters, Altagracia Heredia and
Lenor Herrera; a granddaughter, Rachel Rodriguez and one grandson, Manuel
David Rodriguez.
