LAMESA CHIEF DIES TUESDAY IN TEMPLE
Morris Zimmerman, about 70, chief of police for the past several years in
Lamesa died in a Temple hospital Tuesday evening at 7:15pm

Zimmerman was a former Martin County Sheriff and well known in West Texas.
Funeral serveces were not complete at press time but an announcement was given
the press stating that the funeral would be conducted at the Frist Baptist
Church in Lamesa, probably Thursday afternoon with interment following in the
Evergreen Cemetery in Stanton.

Chief Zimmerman is survived by his wife, the former Johnnie Laws; son, Hardin
Zimmerman of Lamesa and two daughters, Mrs. Bob Stockstill and Mrs. Houson
Branon of Monahans. He is also survived by several grandchildren and one
brother, Jim Zimmerman of Stanton.
