Martin Co., Texas - Woman Charged Boy's Death ============================================= Submitted to the Martin County, TXGenWeb by: Michelle White ============================================= Jury selection begins Tuesday for Stanton woman charged with killing boy NewsWest 9 STANTON, TEXAS - A Stanton woman accused of hitting and killing a boy as he was boarding a school bus, will face a jury this week. Jury selection will begin Tuesday, at the Martin County Courthouse for the trial of Julie Luna. The 35-year-old was originally charged with manslaughter and aggravated assault. But, she now could face negligent homicide charges. Luna allegedly hit and killed 11-year-old Michael Almanza, almost a year ago. The accident happened last October, right in front of the boy's house, along the Interstate Highway 20 service road. Michael's older brother, Brandon, was also hit, but he survived. Luna told Texas Department of Public Safety troopers, at the time, that she didn't see the boys.
