Buford Harold Lumpkin
Mr. Buford Harold Lumpkin, age 62 of Rockmart, Georgia passed
away on Saturday, October 23, 2010.
Mr. Lumpkin was born on June 4, 1948 in Rockmart, son of the late
Charner Allen Lumpkin and the late Sarah Francise Jameson Lumpkin.
He was a retired employee of the State of Georgia having served as
an Environmental Engineer. Mr. Lumpkin was of the Methodist faith, a
member and Past Master of the Rockmart Masonic Lodge #97 F&AM,a past
member of the Rockmart Lions Club and a former member of the Polk
County School Board. He enjoyed participating in the Mentor Program
of the Polk County School District and was a serious supporter of
the Rockmart Booster Club. Mr. Lumpkin was preceded in death by
three brothers; Mr. Allen Lumpkin, Mr. Bobby Lumpkin and Mr. Charles
Mr. Lumpkin is survived by his wife of 38 years, Mrs. Betty Hubbard
Lumpkin of Rockmart; two sons and daughter-in-law, Chuck Lumpkin and
his wife Nancy of Conyers and Tony Lumpkin of Rockmart; one
grandson, Cal Lumpkin; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Mrs. Hazel
Bolstein and her husband Paul of Powder Springs, Mrs. Margaret
Jennings and Mrs. Carolyn Stone and her husband Randy all of
Rockmart; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Mr. Billy Lumpkin and his
wife Bobbi of Rockmart and Mr. Jerry Lumpkin and his wife Shirley of
Griffin; nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Lumpkin will be held on Tuesday afternoon,
October 26th at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Freeman Harris Funeral
Home with the Rev. Dewayne McCreary officiating with a eulogy
provided by a son, Mr. Tony Lumpkin. Interment services will follow
in the family lot of the Rose Hill cemetery with Rockmart Masonic
Lodge #97 in charge of masonic graveside rites.
The following gentlemen are asked to serve as pallbearers: Butch
Thompson, Larry Gore, Mark Lumpkin, Rick Lumpkin, Charlie Lumpkin
and Zack Dabbs.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Frank Plant, Lamar Owens, Greg
Caldwell, Harold McDurmon, masons and members of the Rockmart
Masonic Lodge #97.
The family will receive friends Monday evening, October 25, 2010 at
the Freeman Harris Funeral Home between the hours of 6 and 9 PM.
Freeman Harris Funeral Home is in charge of the funeral arrangements
for Mr. Buford Harold Lumpkin.
