Louise Irwin Garrett

Mrs. Louise Irwin Garrett, age 84 of Rockmart passed away on Monday, September 13, 2010.

Mrs. Garrett was born on March 7, 1926 in Polk County, daughter of the late Charlie Oscar Irwin and the late Bertha Viola Turkett Irwin. She retired from the Arrow Shirt Company and was a member of the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Garrett was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Harold “Red” Garrett; a son, Mr. Gary Garrett; two sisters, Mrs. Fay Brown and Mrs. Lucy Galimore; and three brothers, Mr. Cecil “Bud” Irwin, Mr. J. B. Irwin and
Mr. Gus Irwin.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Denny & Jenny Garrett of Rockmart; a daughter-in-law, Brenda Garrett Wall of Cedartown; and three sisters, Betty Ann Meadows and Grace Williams both of Rockmart and Virginia Stringer of Dallas. Three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Garrett will be held on Thursday afternoon, September 16th at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Freeman Harris Funeral Home with the Rev. Roy Thaxton and the Rev. Jimmy Shoemaker officiating. Interment services will follow in the family lot of the New Prospect Church Cemetery.

The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as pallbearers: Harold Garrett, Michael Garrett, David Johnson, Tommy Abernathy, Ryan Dover and Eric Summerville.

The following gentlemn have been asked to serve as honorary pallbearers: Timmy Brookshire and Rudy Posy.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, September 15th between the hours of 7 and 9 p.m.

Freeman Harris Funeral Home is in charge of the funeral arrangements for Mrs. Louise Irwin Garrett.
