Jesse JENKINS

Winters (RNS) Jesse L. Jenkins, 73, of Winters, died at 7:10 p.m. Wednesday in the North Runnels Hospital. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday in the Spill Memorial Chapel.

The Rev. Virgil James, pastor of the Southside Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery.

Born Feb. 15, 1901, in Runnels County, in the Crews Community, he married Carmen Bowlin Oct. 9, 1922 in McKinney. He farmed in the Crews Community until 1953 when he moved to the Dale community. His wife preceded him in death in 1972.

Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Norval Alexander of Winters, Mrs. Calvin Montgomery of Marietta, Oklahoma, and Mrs. Weldon Foreman of Whitesboro; one brother, Clyde of Artesia, N.M.; one sister, Mrs. Bertha Fleming of Corpus Christi; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be James Brown, Wilburn Phelps, Donnie Gibbs, Wesley Hort, Bill Mayo and Joe Irvin.
