DeShields Cemetery, sometimes called DeShiell, is a medium sized cemetery located in Northeast Titus County. It is a public cemetery long used for community burial. Located about 2 miles North of Wilkerson Community Center, it is easily accessed. A chain link fence encloses the current acreage. A new section has been started by the Blalock family in an adjoining enclosure. Currently there is one triple monument in it for three of the Blalock family. The cemetery is well laid out and neatly maintained. There are 3 rocks marking an undeterminable number of grave sites, 2 native stones, 3 concrete slabs and blocks, one FHM and concrete block, 4 bullet shaped concrete structures, 14 concrete blocks, and a petrified rock marking others. Copious empty spaces are apparently location of other graves. To reach the DeShields Cemetery from the Titus County courthouse, take Jefferson Street north for 1.4 miles to the intersection with the Interstate 30 access road (Burton Road). Turn right (East) onto Burton Road and proceed 0.5 mile to the intersection of FM 1402 (Harts Bluff Road). Turn left (North) onto FM 1402 for 12.4 miles to the intersection of FM 71. Turn right (East) onto FM 71 and then, almost an immediate left (North) onto County Road (CR) NW 47 (CR 3920). This county road will then intersect CR NW 52 (CR 1915) after 0.9 mile. At CR 1915 turn right (East). The DeShields cemetery entrance drive will be 0.6 mile from that intersection. The cemetery sits to right about 0.1 mile. The coordinates are 33o 22.030'N 094o56.872'W.
