Welcome To All Newcomers!

I want to take this time to welcome all newcomers to Wilkes County GAGenWeb. If there is ever anything I can do to help you along the way please let me know..

New or Updated Records

I finally have the second volume of Early Records of Georgia Wilkes County transcribed and online. I have also added links to Wilkes County Family Websites, and demographics. I have added a page for recipes for others to share, so if you have an old family recipe you are willing to share email me. Other new records to mention are: Land records, wills, obituaries, surnames, deeds, & marriage records.

Also I have added a link to Georgia’s Virtual Vault. They now have copies of Georgia Death records on line from 1919-1927.

New Records Needed!

If anyone has records they are willing to share or has an idea for new records please let me know. I am always willing to hear suggestions to improve the web site.

Wednesday Night Chat!

We now have a chat room on the site. I will be there each Wednesday night at 9 pm eastern time.  No sign up just log-in.

Genealogy Poems/Sayings

This Section is reserved for genealogy sayings or just great poems in general about our history.

Do you have a genealogy Poem or saying you would like to share and have it featured in our monthly newsletter?

Email it to me!

Dear Ancestor,

Your tombstone stands among the rest; neglected and alone.

The name and date are chiseled out on polished, marble stone.

It reaches out to all who care; it is too late to mourn.

You did not know that I exist; you died and I was born.

Yet each of us are cells of you in flesh, in blood, in bone.

Our blood contracts and beats a pulse entirely not our own.

Dear Ancestor, the place you filled one hundred years ago,

Spreads out among the ones you left who would have loved you so.

I wonder as you lived and loved, I wonder if you knew

That someday I would find this spot, and come to visit you.
